The #NASDAQ 100 had a pretty sickly looking candlestick for the week as we continue to see the markets meander.
That being said, I would read too much into it because we are, of course, in the midst of closing out the holiday season.
Volatility and a lack of volume will be working against you, but I think the real price here is the 26,000 level.
If we can break above there, then the #NASDAQ can continue to go much higher.

The pound drifted a little bit lower against the #Japanese for the bulk of the week, but just like we had seen the previous week, buyers came in and picked it up again.
The market looks as if it is still watching the ¥209.20 level as a potential floor, and I’m inclined to be a buyer of dips in this market as you get paid to hang onto it, and of course, the Bank of Japan is essentially stuck with loose monetary policy for the foreseeable future with the massive amount of debt that Japan currently owes.

The #US #dollar has rallied a bit against the #Canadian dollar during the trading week, and as we are closing things out, it looks like the #US dollar is trying to break above the 1.3750 level.
The real challenges between there and 1.38, and breaking above the 1.38 level, could have buyers trying to push this thing back to the 1.40 level.
Ultimately, this is a market that I think continues to be very noisy, which is typical for this pair, but I am looking at this through the prism of buying dips and trying to accumulate value.

#Gold continues to see a lot of volatility, but this last week was particularly negative.
At this point, we have re-entered the previous accumulation pattern of the ascending triangle, but we are trying to bounce and recover.
If we can clear the $4400 level, then I think the gold market has a real shot at going higher.
Otherwise, I’m looking for sideways action at the moment, but have no interest whatsoever in shorting this market as there are still plenty of people out there willing to buy it.

The #British #Pound pulled back a bit during the week as it continues to struggle with the 1.35 level.
The 1.35 level is a large, round, psychologically significant figure that continues to cause a few headaches for traders.
That being said, we are still in a “wait and see” mode here, so I suspect that this will be much like the euro, in the sense that we may get a resolution by the end of the week. I am not looking for much at the moment.

The #Euro ended the week negative against the #US dollar as the 1.18 level continues to be a major barrier.
I suspect that the next week will probably see more of the same, but we do have the jobs number announcement coming out on Friday in the #United #States, which could have a major influence on where we go next.
With that being said, I think we remain fairly choppy and sideways until Friday, but if we can close above the 1.1875 level, the euro goes looking to the 1.20 level.

The highlight of the day was the #Federal #Open Market #Committee (FOMC) Minutes of the December meeting released in the #American afternoon.
The Minutes showed that most participants are willing to deliver additional rate #cuts if inflation declines over time.
#Gold: The Yellow Metal traded above $4,350 on Tuesday, trimming back a quarter of its weekly losses after bottoming at $4,300 on Monday. The #XAU/USD pair declined sharply after hitting an all-time high of $4550 at the beginning of the week, due to profit-taking ahead of the #New #Year’s holiday.
#EUR/USD: The pair traded near the 1.1750 region at the time of writing, amid current market calm as we approach the New #Year holiday. The #United #States (US) #Federal #Reserve (Fed) is expected to cut rates between one and three times next year, helping keep the pair afloat ahead of year-end.
#GBP/USD: traded around 1.3470 on Tuesday, consolidating after surging to a more than three-month high near 1.3530.
#USD/JPY: traded near the 156.40 price zone as the USD recovers some ground following the FOMC Minutes release.
The #AUDUSD and the #USDCAD are ending the day pretty much unchanged.
NOTE: Most #financial #markets will remain closed on Wednesday due to the #New #Year’s holiday.

Market focus now turns to the release of the #Federal Open Market #Committee (FOMC) Minutes, due on Tuesday, which could provide further insight into internal policy debates and the outlook for the coming year.
According to the #CME #FedWatch tool, the probability of #rates being left unchanged at the January meeting remains high, while expectations of an immediate rate cut continue to fade.
#XAU/USD drops sharply on Monday, down 4.50% and trading near the $4,330 level after hitting an all-time high at the end of last week. The precious metal is facing strong profit-taking amid thin liquidity ahead of the year-end holidays, which is amplifying the corrective move following the sharp rally seen in recent months.
#GBP/USD: The pair trades near the 1.3490 price region on Monday, as investors remain cautious ahead of year-end and the holiday period, despite expectations surrounding the #Bank of #England’s (BoE) monetary policy stance. Inflation in the #United #Kingdom (UK) remains well above the 2% target.
Although price pressures have eased in recent months, annual inflation slowed to 3.2% in November after peaking at 3.8% between July and September, limiting the central bank’s room for maneuver.
#EURUSD is trading near the 1.1750 price region, trimming part of its losses and breaking its three-day losing streak on Monday. The #US #Dollar strengthens as investors consider the true implications of the #Trump-Zelenskyy meeting, while tensions between #China and #Taiwan increase.
#USD/JPY: The minutes from the #Bank of #Japan’s (BoJ) Monetary Policy Meeting, which were reviewed during Monday’s #Asian session, have the pair trading near the 156.20 price region. #BoJ policymakers noted that interest rates are still far from neutral.
However, some members advised proceeding with caution to avoid undesirable consequences for the economy and financial markets.

This week's highlight will be the release of the minutes of the #Federal #Reserve's (Fed) December meeting, in which the central bank decided to cut its benchmark rate by 25 basis points and signal another rate cut in 2026.
