Makar Sankranti (Uttarayan) is crucial for spiritual renewal, celebrating the sun’s northward journey (Uttarayan) making the end of winter and beginning of spring, symbolizing hope and new spiritual efforts, with emphasis on “dan” (donation) and “seva”, often involving Jholi (seeking alms for community good) for inner purity and service. We will have opportunity to participate in Jholi utsav by doing our “dan” (donation), after sabha in traditional Jholi.
