FOR CANADA PR (Express Entry):
Both IELTS and CELPIP are accepted by IRCC. Both convert to CLB levels the same way. For PR, acceptance is not the difference. The exam experience is.
FOR WORK PERMITS:
IELTS is accepted almost universally. CELPIP is accepted for most PR streams but not all work permit categories or provincial programs. Always verify before you book.
THE REAL DIFFERENCES:
π Speaking -> IELTS is face-to-face with an examiner. CELPIP is into a microphone, no person in the room.
βοΈ Writing -> IELTS now has a handwritten option. CELPIP is always typed.
