🚨 Pig Butchering Scam Unveiled: Chinese Citizen Admits to Laundering $73M in Crypto Fraud!
A major crypto scam has been exposed in the U.S., with a Chinese national admitting to laundering over $73 million taken from victims of a “pig butchering” scheme. In this scheme, fraudsters build trust through social engineering, convincing victims to invest in fake digital assets only to steal their funds.
💸 How It worked: Scammer Daren Li and his associates used shell companies and accounts to move and conceal funds, converting them primarily to USDT. Arrested in Atlanta in April, Li now faces up to 20 years in prison, with sentencing set for March 3, 2025.

🚨 Record-Breaking Crypto Scam: $225 Million Stolen and 15,000 Victims!
🇰🇷 South Korean police have uncovered one of the largest crypto scams to date, with over 15,000 people falling victim. Led by a YouTube influencer with 620,000 subscribers, the scammers promised high returns, urging victims to buy “valuable” crypto assets and even suggesting they take loans or sell their homes to invest. In the end, more than 3,000 people lost a combined total of $225 million.
💸 How the Scheme Worked:
The group created 15 different entities to handle token sales, manipulate prices, and launder money. Of the 28 tokens they promoted, 6 were artificially inflated and sold on foreign exchanges before crashing. The rest were nearly worthless but heavily marketed as “high-yield” investments.

🚨 New Python Package Discovered Stealing Cryptocurrency
Security experts at Checkmarx have detected a new malicious Python package, “CryptoAITools.” This package, posing as a tool for cryptocurrency trading, is actually designed to steal sensitive information and siphon funds from users’ crypto wallets.
📌 Important Points:
• Distributed through Python Package Index (PyPI) and fake GitHub repositories
• Downloaded over 1,300 times before being removed from PyPI
• Activates on both Windows and macOS upon installation
• Includes a misleading user interface to divert attention
💻 Malware Process:
• Once installed, the package detects the user’s operating system and executes the corresponding version.
• It downloads extra malicious components from a fake site, “coinsw.app.”
• Collects various sensitive data, including wallet info, saved passwords, and cookies.
• Sends the data to gofile.io and erases the local copy.
The same malware was also distributed through a GitHub repository named “Meme Token Hunter Bot,” which remains online with one fork and 10 stars.
⚠️ With cross-platform capabilities, this attack poses a significant risk to users and the wider cryptocurrency community. 🚨 Crypto Exchange M2 Hacked: $13.7 Million in Digital Assets Stolen
📆 October 30, 2024
Late in the evening, cryptocurrency exchange M2 fell victim to a cyberattack, resulting in the loss of approximately $13.7 million in digital assets. Initial investigations indicate that funds were stolen from M2’s wallets across three major blockchains: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
💸 The funds were siphoned from the following addresses:

Bitcoin (BTC): bc1qu4kh7wa38xpkrp8frgxl4sak88wx0jug8n3vfj

🛡 How the Attack Unfolded:
Blockchain analysis revealed that a portion of the stolen funds initially on Solana was moved to Ethereum through the Wormhole bridge and routed via the HitBTC exchange. USDT and SHIB tokens were converted into native ETH.
🔍 Current Locations of the Stolen Assets:
Ethereum (ETH): 0x968b6984CbA14444F23EE51bE90652408155e142, holding approximately 4,010 ETH (~$10 million).
Bitcoin (BTC): bc1qu4kh7wa38xpkrp8frgxl4sak88wx0jug8n3vfj, holding 41 BTC (~$2.9 million).
Additionally, a small amount (17.9 ETH) was sent to the SwitChain service, potentially to further obscure the movement of these funds.
⚠️ M2’s security breach highlights the growing risks to digital asset exchanges, especially those operating across multiple blockchain ecosystems. This incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced security protocols as exchanges face increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
