My First Paddle-Boarding Lesson
Here I am in a cold, windy city, (0) ___________ a very grey sky. I ask myself (9) ___________ I'm standing on an oversized surfboard in the middle of a river with nothing to help me (10) ___________ a paddle. I'm about to have my first lesson in paddle-boarding, which is a bit (11) ___________ canoeing but with only one paddle and, being upright, you can enjoy the views on offer. During this lesson, we'll review some vocabulary for talking about smart cities. We'll also check out a speaking task similar to one you might find on Part 2 of the speaking paper during the B2 First or C1 Advanced exam. We'll review lots of great vocabulary and useful phrases for this task, and hopefully learn some great things from one another.
This lesson is interactive so you will be able to participate in the chat and contribute to our lesson notes. Both the video and notes will be uploaded to YouTube after so we can all continue to learn from each other!

Handwriting is history
Handwriting has been (0) __________ for about 6,000 years, just a small fraction of the time that humans have been on this earth, but its effects have been enormous. Writing doesn't come naturally to us: (9) __________ seeing and hearing, it must be taught.
However, (10) __________ that computers have taken over our world, the need to write anything by hand is becoming redundant. Some educationalists are therefore questioning why schools should teach joined-up writing at (11) __________ .
