Last week new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, said that he didnât support the introduction of assisted suicide until the current underfunding of palliative and social care services had been addressed.
It is vital that MPs are made aware not only of Andy Burnhamâs comments but also landmark recent polling that shows strong national and local support for his remarks, as well as evidence that hospice and end-of-life care is currently in a state whereby legalising assisted suicide would be particularly dangerous.

| 10 | UKMFA Covid Inquiry Module 4 Witness Statement
UKMFA has finally published, in full, the witness statement we submitted to the UK Covid Inquiry, Module 4, at the request of Baroness Hallett's solicitors.
The witness statement was submitted in February 2024, when we were asked by the Inquiry solicitors not to publish it. We assumed it would be published eventually on the Covid Inquiry website. The Module 4 hearings were held in 2025 and the final report was published in June 2026, yet our statement had still not been made public on the Inquiry website.
On 16 June 2026, we emailed the solicitors to ask why our statement had not been published.  You can see their reply on 25 June 2026 under Further Correspondence. We have now published our statement in full, in the public interest.

"The Covid Inquiry has been accused of suppressing evidence that called into question the ethics of the vaccine rollout during the pandemic.
...Dr Ros Jones, convenor of the Childrenâs Covid Vaccines Advisory Council, a group of health professionals and scientists who challenged the Government over the vaccine rollout for children, was among those invited to give evidence.
She wrote in her witness statement that there was ânever any justification for authorising or recommending the use in healthy children of novel technology gene-based vaccines with no long-term safety dataâ. âTo give such vaccines to children for the possible protection of vulnerable adults is a clear breach of our ethical duty,â she had argued....

Part 2 of a series on the abuse of end of life care and do not resuscitate orders in the NHS.
"This is a story about a medical inquest in a coronerâs court. They happen every day of the week. But this one has the potential to blow the whole of the end-of-life written and unwritten policy out of the water.
Derek Dimmock, aged 86, was admitted to Royal Trinity Hospice in south London, on June 6th 2020 for gout treatment. Nevertheless, within three hours, a hospice doctor had assessed that he was âin the process of dyingâ and put him on a syringe driver (necessary for delivering intravenous drugs) and prescribed end-of-life drugs, including midazolam, alfentanil (for short-term pain relief) and oxycodone, a strong opioid.
Derek Dimmock quickly became comatose and died the following day.
Royal Trinity Hospice recorded his death as heart failure and claimed that his kidneys were failing. Convinced that he had died of an overdose of the drugs, the family demanded an inquest...."
