"It's never too late to rebuild your life from ground zero." Today, Derrick is employed, happily married and with a five-year-old daughter. He earned his driving license at age 36 and is set to collect the keys to his own BTO flat at 40. His advice, "There are no shortcuts in life. If you think you need help, please seek professional help. Most importantly, don't be afraid to change and acknowledge your mistakes. Your loved ones are there for you." Despite his multiple relapses and incarcerations, his family was always there for him. They never missed a chance to visit Derrick and continued to extend their love and support to him, pushing him to turn his life around. "I wish society could see the effort that we put into changing and listen to our stories. We just need a second chance, and sometimes all we need is just a person who will believe in us!"πŸŽ— #YellowRibbonProject #SG4SecondChances #BeyondSecondChances #ASecondChanceToMyself https://www.instagram.com/p/DJjRH2tMsRM/?igsh=MWZlMWczYWxrYzZwdQ==

The Unlabelled Run also has strong alignment with YRP’s mission of building an inclusive, cohesive, and compassionate society. 🀝 From 2026, the YRPR will return with a brand new look, so keep a lookout for more exciting details that will be announced in time. "Inmates would typically start preparing for employment nearing their release or Community-Based Programme placement, leaving little to no time to explore their potential career paths and aspirations. The Career Circles Programme was introduced to bring career-related conversations much earlier in the incarceration phase." Bryan has been with YRSG for seven years, working on managing ex-offenders' reintegration back into society through gainful employment, supporting and guiding staff and leading initiatives with Singapore Prison Service. 🀝 Career Circles co-developed with inmates from the Empatherapy Hub in Institution B1 in 2023, aims to spark inmates' interest in planning for their careers and help them understand common workplace challenges they may encounter upon release. https://www.instagram.com/p/DJRPjkMMYIk/?igsh=MWk1cWZ6eG9wNmZucw== #SG4SecondChances #YellowRibbonSG #YellowRibbonSingapore #BeyondSecondChances

"I have come to see that everyone's story is different, but one truth remains–with support, belief and compassion, they can rewrite their narratives." Ms Clara Yap, a volunteer with Singapore After-Care Association (SACA), has been passionately supporting the second chances movement since 1999. Her journey began with a community outreach initiative focused on helping ex-offenders reintegrate into society and 26 years later, she continues to be deeply moved by the resilience and stories of those that she has supported through her work. "My hope is that we can build a more compassionate and inclusive societyβ€”one that prioritizes rehabilitation over rejection and offers support instead of stigma." πŸŽ—οΈ https://www.instagram.com/p/DJGMTxvowus/?igsh=MWt1aDM5bmZnZ2w1dA== #YellowRibbonProject #SG4SecondChances #BeyondSecondChances #FriendsofYRP

The Singapore Academy of Law's (SAL) annual charity futsal tournament, Chief Justice's Cup (CJ), was back for another edition in 2025. ⚽ More than 160 members of the legal community joined to raise funds for the Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF) and the Singapore After-Care Association (SACA). The event raised a record of $205,000 this year and this amount will provide financial support to needy ex-offenders seeking vocational and skills training offered under the SAL-YRF Skills Training Assistance to Restart (STAR) Bursary and befriending services to the incarcerated and their families under SACA's Volunteer After-Care Programme. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the SAL and all the participants at the CJ's Cup for their dedication in supporting the education and rehabilitation of ex-offenders and assisting their families, to offer second chances and hope.πŸŽ—οΈ https://www.instagram.com/p/DJBvAlHyAsH/?igsh=MTd2bmdqc2FwMnV0eA== #BeyondSecondChances #SG4SecondChances #YellowRibbonSingapore

The session allowed participants to identify motivations, challenges, and performance issues faced by ex-offenders, while learning strategies for inclusion, effective communications, and coaching methods to enhance ex-offender employees' performance. Changing lives, one at a timeβ€”starting with her own. πŸ’› Angel spent nearly 30 years in and out of prison due to drug-related offences. In 2004, she was given a second chance at Connect Centre as a Call Centre Agent, and she seized it. Through grit, growth and grace, Angel rose to become the Chief Operating Officer of Connect Centre. Today, she leads a team where 95% of the staff are ex-offenders like herself. She plays a key role in fostering a supportive company culture, mentoring others, guiding them through challenges, and proving that the past does not define the future. Her journey is a powerful testament to the impact of second chances. When we invest in one life, we ignite a ripple of transformation. πŸŽ—οΈ https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSrGbdvvH/ #SecondChances #YellowRibbonProject #BeyondSecondChances #SG4SecondChances #YellowRibbonProject

"I wish society would ask more questions rather than use label. If someone were to ask, 'Why did you do it in the first place?' they might gain a deeper understanding." For Hamzah bin Mohd Ariff, his reintegration process was not easy. However, through his actions, he managed to regain the trust and support of his loved ones. During his rehabilitation, Hamzah learnt the concept of 'Super-Substitution', which kept him busy by spending time with his family and new hobbies, instead of relapsing. Through it all, he found his relationships drastically improving, with his family being an anchor throughout his recovery journey. His advice, "Do not be afraid to seek help. There are people out there willing to support you, but you need to take the first step. Be confident, keep upgrading yourself, and stay positive." πŸŽ—οΈ https://www.instagram.com/p/DIaNEdnBjtB/?igsh=eWNkY2xjdW04ZzJl #YellowRibbonProject #SG4SecondChances #BeyondSecondChances #ASecondChanceToMyself
