There are two types of flow in an answer:
1️⃣ Flow of Ideas
2️⃣ Flow of Readability
Flow of Ideas refers to how well-organized the content of your answer is. If there are multiple points, you should know the logical order they need to follow. From introduction to conclusion, the answer should feel cohesive, with each part fitting into the whole.
- The flow of ideas breaks down when you write in a haphazard manner, beginning without a mental framework and simply jotting down whatever comes to mind.
- The flow of ideas also breaks down when you don’t maintain structure. For example, in a 10-marker question with 4 sub-questions, each part should ideally receive 2.5 marks worth of attention. If you finish the first part and then, while writing the second, remember something you missed in the first, inserting it here disrupts clarity. This confuses the examiner and reflects a lack of organized thought.
🧠 The flow of ideas can be preserved by training your brain in thinking ahead. This comes with practice. Brain storming, Keyword dropping, Mental Framework etc. are tools that can help. But the idea is to make it natural.
