once upon a time in a classroom

i taught sat for more than 1.5 years, both online and offline. aside from obvious benefits like making some cash to cover daily expenses, i saw teaching as a great way to taste the first bits of the career ladder, to take up actual responsibility for the work i did, and to (of course) contend with capitalism. but my teaching experience offered a little beyond that too. having to deal with mini-adrenaline bursts before each offline class (worried the students might notice something silly about my appearance), or having to rehearse bits of the presentation to make sure i was fully accurate, or managing that awkward transition from sitting in the class to standing up and walking around—all these little mini-challenges i put before myself when teaching, i somehow realized, made me confident when in front of others, fluent in narrating any content, and excited about whatever speech my mouth was trying to formulate. i didn't give public speeches a lot. the first was when i became the valedictorian of my high school. i had to give the final student speech to 250+ people. the second one was last saturday, for the ai500! hackathon, where the stakes were way higher. but regardless, my experience in a classroom held up. they said i had a good pitch, but i was pitching knowledge for the past 2 years. not on a stage, but in a classroom. @husan_thinking

continuing on this post, i don't want to say we should avoid ai completely and go back to the primitive era. no. what i am trying to say is simple: we are using the ai for wrong things. current models are smart. they can do a lot of tasks. you can automate entire campaigns, accelerate workflows, and scale things that scale. but if anything, they cannot think. and any act of thinking requires cognitive output. you don't expect original cognition from these models. the best usage of ai is when the task doesn't involve cognitive output. for example, correcting the only grammar of your essay that YOU have written yourself. or, researching. i think ai is perfect to scale your research. so, these processes are scalable because they don't require cognitive output. but thinking is not scalable. you can't go around and tell ai to accelerate your "brainstorming" session. so, when you use ai for tasks that it is not really made for, it will give you bad results.

The most disrespectful thing you can do to yourself and any other person is bring your AI-generated work, be it an essay, resume, video, website, project, or anything. This way, you are telling two things: - I don't respect you because I deem it okay if you check my AI-generated essay (I don't respect your effort whatsoever) - I don't respect myself for showing you an AI-generated work because my own cognitive output is shamefully low. The second most disrespectful thing you can do is to use AI on your work and lie about not using it. Plz, respect yourself and others. Let us all be happy husan
