Gann Box WD Gann realised that price and time are connected, several tools can assist with measuring the speed of the markets. The Gann Box is a powerful tool which can be used to measure and detect recurring price cycles, like ripples from a stone in a pond. The user can set the time and the price range for a cycle which is expected to repeat. The Gann Box is like a road map for the market which can be used to look for pivots and targets. Depending on your charting software, charts need to scale properly to ensure the market has a time/square relationship e.g. 1 day : 1 unit. "Scale price chart only" is a useful option if you have it. The Gann box divides price and time into sections, called price and time levels, it's drawn from major pivots (low or high). The extremes of the market give the current price time relationship values, Gann would find pivots in the narket and have to calculate each level manually however charting software can calculate these levels for us within the levels of the Gann box. Gann referred to cycles as being 360 degrees or 100% in total. He divided these cycles into thirds and quarters. E.g. 25% (90 degrees), 33.3% (120 degrees), 50% (180 degrees), 66.6% (240 degrees), 75%(270 degrees), 100%(360 degrees). He considered 50% (180 degrees) and 100% (360 degreed) as the most important points to watch.
