A lawsuit has been filed in a Seattle federal court against Binance and its founder, Changpeng Zhao. According to the complaint, three crypto investors were unable to recover their stolen assets because the exchange failed to prevent money laundering.
The document states that the perpetrators stole cryptocurrencies from the plaintiffs and subsequently used the platform to withdraw the funds.
The plaintiffs allege that Binance was aware of and in some way encouraged these actions as part of its profitable business model.

Indian law enforcement authorities have arrested a man suspected of kidnapping two employees of the collapsed financial pyramid scheme BitConnect and extorting $125 million in cryptocurrencies.
According to the investigation, Ahmedabad resident Shailesh Babulal Bhatt became a victim of a fraudulent scheme after purchasing the native coin of the BitConnect project. In an attempt to "recover his investments," he, along with accomplices, kidnapped two employees of the scam project and extorted 2091 BTC, 11,000 LTC, and approximately $1.7 million (145 million Indian rupees) in exchange for their release.

The founder of ezBtc used users' funds for gambling
Canadian crypto platform ezBtc and its founder David Smillie misappropriated around CAD 13 million (~$9.5 million) of client funds, with part of it used for gambling. This was reported by the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC).
The company, which ceased operations in September 2019 and was liquidated in 2022, claimed to keep all user investments in cold storage. However, the BCSC found evidence of illegal misappropriation of assets "for personal purposes."
