🇬🇧 HIKE OF THE SUMMER SOLSTICE Recently, the German initiative group of Centuria celebrated the summer solstice on the North Sea coast. The schedule included a 40-kilometer hike, which concluded with a mystery play dedicated to one of the most important days of the solar cycle. The summer solstice has long symbolized the sun’s peak splendor, life force, abundance, and humanity’s unity with nature. That is why this day held a special place in the worldview of many European cultures and was marked by rituals designed to honor the natural cycle and the spiritual heritage of their ancestors. During the mystery play, participants honored the gods of the Germanic-Scandinavian and Slavic traditions, drawing on Europe’s shared cultural heritage. The event provided an opportunity not only to spend time together but also to reflect on historical traditions, their symbolism, and their significance for people today. The atmosphere of the hike and the evening mystery play was filled with mutual support, brotherhood, and respect for the cultural heritage that has shaped the worldview of European peoples over the centuries.
