This image was part of an exhibition titled "A Healthy Woman, A Healthy People," which opened in 1932 at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum in Dresden. It reads "A pregnancy must not be terminated! Beware of counseling and treatment by unqualified persons!" Healthy women in NS Germany were denied access to abortion. Starting in 1938, Jewish women could have legal abortions, but doctors, nurses, and midwives who performed abortions on healthy German women risked severe punishments. Set aside whatever you think about Hitler’s underlying motives for this policy; was this unreasonable? Was it “tyrannical?” They granted Jews the religious freedom to abort their own babies if they wished, but discouraged it for Germans. If abortion culture is socially corrosive to a Christian society, does that society not have the right to oppose it? The social effects of an abortion ban on liberal society is cause for Jewish concern, but their real outrage is over Gentiles closing the valve on one of their big revenue streams.
