Q\Discuss the difference between the settings in act I and ll Setting in Act I, the writer wants to give us two Settings in one Setting. The first one is out side, implicitly we understand that the writer wants us as audience or as readers to make a comparison between outside and inside. First thing, we see is the mountains of Balkans, these mountains are close but they are not, the reason that makes them close because their huge, very big. The writer wants to tell us about atmosphere where mountains covered with snow that implies the idea of winter. As we talk about winter, metaphorically this Setting is a very gloomy Setting covered with the idea of death. Also he describes the window as source of evil and source of danger. "on the balcony a young lady.... Here the purpose of the setting inside is to tell audience about person who lives in this room. Setting in Act 2 is completely different from Act 1 in which time is spring. Indeed this Setting stands for life, peace and happy event that is waiting for. As the writer skip a preiod about four months that thing make the audience eager to know what will happen next as well as what happen to that man who sleeps in Raina's bed. In this setting, new characters appear such Louka and Nicola. So simply we can say the contrast between the setting of Act 1 and the setting of Act 2 is to show difference between death and life, war and Peace.

Catherine, on the other hand, is more pragmatic and open-minded. She is not as concerned with social status and is more interested in practical matters and personal relationships. Catherine is also more perceptive and self-aware than her husband, often seeing through the facade of societal expectations and challenging the conventional norms. + وصفها الي بالكتاب و تفاصيل من بقية الاكتات هنا فقط Act 2

sergius is a very ironic character throughout the course of the play, his attitude reflects that clearly, sergins is not an honest man since as we recognize during Act2 ware Rain wants to goia and changes her clothes in order to go out she goes inside home & Sergius immediatels torns to louka and begin flitring her so that prove Sergius lacks of personal honest toward and towards his fiancee (Raina) "five minutes seems to be five hours" this is a very ironic sentence because his shifting to louka after Raina's going. sergius is represented an idealistic sample who people glorifid during the wartime. In fact, sergius is not a hero and his behavior Proves that he is not a noble man rather to be an ironic one. شخصية sergius و ضيفوا بعد هذي فقط خلال Act 2

Discuss the difference between the settings in act I and ll

In George Bernard Shaw's play 'Arms and the Man,' the main characters undergo significant transformations in their beliefs and attitudes throughout the course of the play. These changes are particularly evident in the two main characters, Raina Petkoff and Captain Bluntschli. At the beginning of the play, Raina is portrayed as a naive and idealistic young woman who has been brought up to believe in the romanticized notion of war and heroism. She is deeply infatuated with her fiancé, the dashing and heroic Sergius Saranoff, who represents everything she imagines a hero should be. However, as the play progresses, Raina begins to realize that her idealized vision of war and heroism is far from the reality of the situation. She learns that war is not glorious but is brutal, and that her fiancé Sergius is not the honorable hero she had imagined, but rather a vain and impulsive man, who is more concerned with his own image than with the lives of his men. As a result, Raina's idealism is shattered, and she becomes more pragmatic and self-aware, recognizing that life is not always as simple and idealistic as she had imagined. On the other hand, Bluntschli, the pragmatic and rational Swiss mercenary, represents the voice of reason and sanity in the play. At the beginning of the play, he is portrayed as a practical and unromantic soldier, who has no desire for heroism or glory. However, as the play progresses, Bluntschli becomes a more complex and rounded character, revealing his inner thoughts and feelings. He begins to confess his love for Raina, despite the fact that she is engaged to Sergius. This reveals that Bluntschli is more than just a practical soldier, but is also capable of having deep emotions and feelings. By the end of the play, Bluntschli's practicality and pragmatism have not diminished, but are rather balanced by his newfound emotional depth. In conclusion, the characters in Arms and the Man have changed significantly by the end of the play, undergoing a transformation in their beliefs and attitudes. Raina's idealism is replaced by a more pragmatic and self-aware perspective, while Bluntschli reveals his emotional depth and complexity. These changes demonstrate the complexity of human nature and the power of experience to alter one's worldview.
