Debunking Myth- Waiting List provision in UPSC UPSC reserve list is not a waiting list. “It is clear that the reserve list is not a waiting list. In fact, the reserve list is necessitated in a multi-service examination to allow candidates of reserved categories to choose a service of higher preference who qualify at or above general qualifying standard without availing any concession/relaxation at any stage of the examination.” "While declaring Main result (the result at first instance), the number of recommended candidates under General (unreserved) category is reduced by the total number of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the Other Backward Classes and the Economically Weaker Sections who acquire the merit at or above the general qualifying standard without availing any of the concession/relaxation either in eligibility or in selection criteria,". The reserve list is prepared along with the main list for general and reserved categories. The list is used for subsequent recommendation after concluding the exercise of service allocation of the recommended candidates of the Main result by the Government, the Commission explains. For example Total Firm vacancies in CSE 2022- 1022 Final Result declared in the Main List- 933 Note- There is no provision of reserve list in Indian Forest Service examination as it is a examination for one service If a seat is being wasted because the person isn't getting what they want, did the seat go to the next candidate? No, the seat is wasted. Team @UPSCFRATERNITY

https://innovateindia.mygov.in/upsc/ The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has launched a new digital initiative titled ‘My UPSC Interview: From Dream to Reality’ as part of its Centenary Year celebrations (1925–2025). The portal has been created to document and preserve the personal experiences of officers who appeared for the UPSC Personality Test during their journey to becoming public servants. It seeks to build an inspiring archive of stories reflecting the transformative nature of the UPSC Interview and its impact on careers in public service. Through this initiative, UPSC aims to collect diverse and motivational narratives from candidates, capturing defining moments, challenges, and insights from their interview experiences. These first-person accounts are intended to serve as both a historical record and a source of inspiration for future aspirants.
