ASMITA Project (Augmenting Study Materials in Indian Languages through Translation and Academic Writing)
- Objective: Develop 22,000 books in Indian languages over the next five years.
- Collaborators: UGC and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, under the Ministry of Education.
- Goal: Promote and integrate Indian languages into the education system, enhancing inclusivity and enriching learning experiences.
- Nodal Universities: Thirteen identified to lead the project, supported by member universities from various regions.
- SOP for Book Writing:
- Identification of nodal officers and authors
- Allocation of title, subject, and programme
- Writing and editing
- Manuscript submission, review, and plagiarism check
- Finalisation, designing, proofreading, and e-publication
Other Initiatives:
- Bahubhasha Shabdakosh:
- A single-point reference for all words in Indian languages and their meanings.
- Developed by the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) in collaboration with the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti.
- Aims to facilitate the use of Indian words, phrases, and sentences in new-age domains like IT, industry, research, and education.
