Disgrace - when the only time a black life matters is when politics needs it to ma$$er. Have you heard the story of 6YO Jalayah Eason? Some are crying for this baby, but we are all at fault. The black community allows many cases of abuse/rape/murder to go untouched, unanswered, and unapproachable. Ask this:
Would a POC stop another POC from abusing their child? Killing one another in the hood? No.
Jalayah Easons' mother is a black woman that many people would not have approached. They heard Jalayah being abused, tortured, and eventually murdered. No one knocked on the door/intervened on Jalayah's behalf? The community, as a whole, will not speak out, nor step up to confront issues in the hood. In fear of "invading" / "caught up" in someone else's business.
The problem is that black children are being destroyed in the commission of our black silence.
Pick a side. We must stop being slaves to the statistics of society.
Many are afraid to stand. Comfortable living with double standards. Choosing to feed the distractions and promote the backward racist seeds that were planted by ACTUAL racist creatures. Wake up!
Many of us haven't been courageous enough to stand/ break the chains from the centuries old patterns out of pure fear.
Fear has become our taskmaster. Fear of being judged by another POC /NOT fitting into man made standards.
Some of the black angels couldn't physically be in NM this day to stand with Ally. STILL, the black community should have made their presence known. As a POC myself, I see that many POC are too afraid to stand for whats right, even if it's for a child like Ally or Jalayah. I suspect to do so results in each of us being forced to stand against everything that's wrong and corrupt in our own lives. That takes a special kind of courage most don't want to face.
HUGE THANKS to Shipper Shepp for your courage. Courage to get on a plane for the first time, fly to strangers, and stand with Ally.
Thank you for standing boldly to speak the truth. Most refuse to hear.
The black community needs more people like you giving a wake-up call on behalf of our black children and for every child outside of the African American race. G-d Bless. MOD
