The circular cutout in the lowest pillar aligns with the sun on Veterans Day (November 11) at 11:11 a.m., creating a beam of light that illuminates the Great Seal of Illinois embedded in the ground. This precise solar alignment is a poignant tribute to veterans, occurring annually on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. At exactly 11:11 a.m., every Veteran’s Day, the sun aligns perfectly with “The Anthem Veteran’s Memorial” in Arizona, to shine through the ellipses of the five marble pillars. Each pillar represents a different branch of the Armed Forces, illuminating The Great Seal of The United States. 🇺🇸
