How to reduce methane emission in rice fields
DIRECT SEEDING: seeding rice into dry soil rather than already flooded fields , which reduces methane emissions by reducing the flooding season by approximately one month.
AEROBIC RICE SYSTEM: growing rice in well drained, non-saturated soils.
Rice fields has been a contributor to global methane emission. Hence the need to explore and adopt mitigative techniques in reducing this emission is timely.
PhD Defense Examiner Questions
(Key Focus Areas)
During a PhD defense, examiners typically ask questions that span several core areas of your research. These questions aim to assess your depth of understanding, the originality & rigour of your work, & its overall contribution to the field.
Common categories of questions include some of the following:
- General Context & Motivation
- Literature Review & Theoretical Framework
- Research Methodology & Design
- Analysis, Results, and Interpretation
- Impact, Significance, & Contribution
-Conclusion & Future Work
Life goals - a healthy landscape with βnetsβ of vegetation and water-harvesting earthworks slowing, infiltrating, and cycling the water.
Seagrass provides many benefits to marine life and is vital to supporting marine #biodiversity. However, these precious ecosystems are currently under threat due to pollution and climate change.
πΏ Five Key Components of Zero Carbon Buildings πΏ
Building a sustainable future starts with understanding the essentials of zero carbon buildings! Here's a breakdown of the five key elements crucial to designing spaces with minimal carbon emissions:
1οΈβ£ Renewable Energy Generation: Generate or procure carbon-free renewable energy on-site to power operations cleanly. π
2οΈβ£ Energy Intensity Metrics: Focus on designing highly efficient, resilient buildings that conserve energy resources. π
3οΈβ£ Embodied Carbon: Consider the lifecycle impact of building materials to make environmentally responsible choices. ποΈ
4οΈβ£ Lowering Emissions: Use greenhouse gas intensity metrics to measure and reduce building emissions effectively. π
5οΈβ£ Reducing Peak Energy Demand: Adopt "peak shaving" measures to lower energy demand during high-usage periods. β‘
π‘ *What is a Zero Carbon Building?* Itβs a highly energy-efficient building that produces or procures renewable energy to offset annual carbon emissions from operations.
Together, we can work towards creating innovative, sustainable buildings for a better planet. π Let's make every structure count! π
