Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the most influential anime series ever made. It follows a teenage boy named Shinji Ikari, who is recruited by a mysterious organization called NERV to pilot a giant robot known as an Evangelion. These machines are humanity’s only hope against powerful beings called Angels that threaten to destroy the world. On the surface, Evangelion looks like a typical giant robot show, but it quickly becomes much deeper. The story dives into heavy topics like depression, loneliness, fear of rejection, and the struggle to find meaning in life. Every character is broken in some way, and their personal struggles drive the plot just as much as the action scenes do.  As the series goes on, the battles against the Angels become less important compared to the emotional battles going on inside the pilots’ minds. Shinji, Asuka, Rei, and even the adults at NERV deal with deep psychological wounds.
