| 11 |  ⚡ Every block can carry one zero-fee transaction.
That's the full allowance. A validator gets no reward for a non-mandatory block that's just that one free transfer, so there's no incentive to pad blocks with it.
The rule exists for a specific reason: not every transfer needs to compete on fees. A small payment or a routine transaction shouldn't get blocked just because nobody attached money to move it.
One free slot per block keeps that door open without turning it into a spam vector.

| 12 | eCurrency started out in January 2018 as a proof-of-work network, with roughly one-minute blocks and a classic UTXO accounting model like Bitcoin's. In 2025 we hard-forked to proof-of-stake: instead of mining, blocks are now validated by whoever holds coins, weight is calculated as coin amount times its age, and blocks come out every 10 seconds. Alongside the switch we added post-quantum Falcon signatures to stand up against future quantum computers, a simplified P2SH address scheme with MAST for script privacy, and tiered smart contracts: native gas-free tokens plus client-side contracts.
You can earn through staking: it's not "buy and wait," it's taking part in validating the network. To join, you spin up an ECR node (software that syncs with the network and checks blocks), point it at your wallet with coins in it, and the node handles validator selection on your behalf while it runs. There's no lockup or slashing: your coins stay in your balance, free to move at any time, and the weight used to calculate your odds of producing a block is the coin amount times its "age" (how long it's sat unmoved). Validators earn from network fees plus the Reward Fund.

| 19 |  🔒 Most Proof-of-Stake networks lock your stake for a fixed period and slash it if a validator misbehaves. eCurrency doesn't do either.
There's no lockup, so your capital stays liquid the whole time. There's no slashing, because there's nothing locked to punish.
The bet is that permissionless participation with liquid capital does the same job punitive economics is supposed to do, without asking anyone to freeze funds to prove good faith.
