Dear Friends and Members of the Rotary Ethiopia Family, Today, we observe Menstrual Hygiene Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and breaking the silence surrounding menstrual health and hygiene. This day reminds us of the importance of menstrual hygiene management and the impact it has on the lives of millions of women and girls across Ethiopia and the world. Menstruation is a natural and essential part of the reproductive cycle, yet it is often surrounded by stigma, misinformation, and inadequate access to hygiene products and facilities. These challenges can have profound effects on the health, education, and dignity of women and girls. As Rotary Ethiopia Family and Friends, we are committed to promoting menstrual hygiene and ensuring that every girl and woman has the resources and support they need to manage their menstruation with dignity. Our efforts include: - Education and Awareness:Conducting workshops and educational programs in schools and communities to dispel myths and provide accurate information about menstrual health. - Access to Hygiene Products:Distributing sanitary pads and other menstrual hygiene products to girls and women in need, especially in underserved areas. - Improving Facilities:Advocating for and supporting the construction of clean, private, and safe sanitation facilities in schools and public places. - Empowering Women and Girls:Encouraging open conversations about menstruation and empowering women and girls to take control of their health and well-being. On this Menstrual Hygiene Day, we renew our commitment to creating a world where no girl is held back by her period. Let us continue to work together to break the stigma, provide the necessary resources, and support menstrual health for all. Rotary Ethiopia, in collaboration with ShelterBox and IOM - UN Migration, has shown immense dedication and compassion by delivering vital aid to internally displaced persons affected by drought in the Kilalu district of the Afar region. Through their joint efforts, these organizations have provided shelter and essential non-food items to 1000 individuals, offering a glimmer of hope in their time of need. Additionally, they have extended financial assistance to those who are most vulnerable, truly exemplifying the spirit of humanity. The invaluable contribution of Rotary volunteers alongside IOM - UN Migration and ShelterBox cannot be overstated. Their unwavering commitment has played a pivotal role in the success of this relief operation. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of them for their selfless service.
