And this is the foundation for everything else. Contract agreements can go a few ways. Either you are leasing the song to a client and getting royalties from whenever the song is used , or you sell it at once for a fee and you can never earn from it again, or both cases.
So basically. What you created is what you own. But if you sign on a contract and say, I am giving this beat exclusively to this party now that thing you created is no longer yours.
1. How do yāall handle your contracts with artists, royalty splits and all of that when you sell beats?
To answer this letās first clarify this. There are two rights for every song, the composition and the masters. The composition right is sort of the start of the song, the idea, the progression and the masters is final tangible audio of the song that can be released into the world from that initial idea.
So composition rights are formally known as Publishing rights and the other is Masters right.
To regulate this to producers and beat makers, a producer will always own their publishing rights unless sold exclusively to a client or party.
Hi Everyone. Thank you Toka for the invite. Looking forward to helping in anyway I can.
