🚀 Why Space Agencies Want to Make the Most of ‘Solar Maximum’ ☀️ 🔹 Understanding Solar Cycle: - The Sun undergoes an 11-year cycle where its magnetic field flips, leading to phases of high and low solar activity. - The peak phase, called Solar Maximum, witnesses intense sunspots, solar flares, and ejections of charged particles. 🔹 Impact on Earth & Relevance: 1. Solar activity can disrupt satellite communications, navigation systems, and even power grids. 2. Increased research on solar activity aids in mitigating risks and improving space weather forecasting. 🔹 Why Are More Missions Being Launched Now? - The current cycle may be nearing its peak, offering a rare opportunity to study the Sun in its most active state. - Future high solar activity is not expected before 2035-36, making this the best window for research. 🔹 Key Solar Missions (Since September 2023): ✅ Aditya-L1 (by ISRO): India’s first solar mission, studying solar dynamics and magnetic fields ✅ Proba-3 (by ESA): Focused on studying solar winds and storms ✅ PUNCH (by NASA): Investigating solar corona and solar wind. 📌 *Stay updated for more such news @upsc_margdarshak
