40+ cops — some in riot gear — had to secure my event due to the threat from anti-Israel activists (many of whom are Hamas supporters) on campus. I literally had to go over an evacuation plan with the police and move venues just because I am Israeli speaking at UC Berkeley. They had police stationed behind the stage, above the stage and at the windows, fully equipped. Despite the insanity from the “free Palestine” crowd, I’m extremely grateful to the UC Berkeley administration, CAMERA on Campus, and Tikvah students at Berkeley for ensuring my event was a success and for not cowering to the threats and bullying of the anti-Israel extremists. I also am grateful to see that many of the UC administration, including the Vice Chancellor, attended my event, as well as members of the Berkeley City Council.
