01 This is exactly what Poch was doing. The same thing. But because we werenโt winning enough games, they said he didnโt have tactics and is always on the touch line like he doesnโt care.

Every great manager starts from point zero. We can't just rule out every manager because he/they have less experience outside the championship.
The Alonso we all want was coaching the youth team just one season ago. Pep did and Mourinho did.

They were also impressed by his single-minded focus on the way Chelsea wants to play and his desire for the job. His obsession with possession and positional play have made him the leading candidate.

13 Brentford played a more possession style of football in the championship but unlike Kompany, Thomas Frank realised that he needed to adapt in the PL & heโs made Brentford and established team. | 9 375 | 3 | Loading... |

15 Thomas Frank
I'm not exactly saying this because I endorse or back Thomas Frank, but he's got nearly two decades of youth coaching experience alone, where he had a strong track record of working with and improving youngsters. At Brรธndby, he played a possession oriented style, took them to the Europa League. Two other guys on the list are from the Championship, and Frank took them to the playoffs and then promotion with a squad full of moneyball signings. Toney, Mbeumo, Nรธrgaard were part of his squad then & have improved under his tutelage. They were promoted with the most goals scored with Toney hitting 31. How he's set up in the PL is I think a reflection of the squad he has and its strengths rather than his ideal vision. He's also shown to be collaborative, never criticized signings or about having to develop them. Worked with set-piece dept whose key guy Bernardo Cueva joins us in the summer. Again, like McKenna, you're envisioning a massive scale up job with him. But he's a strong team player, has extensive youth coaching experience, players seem to admire him, current hierarchy has zero complaints.

31 A lot of people are misunderstanding the whole point of what i said.
The owners will obviously want to winโฆI mean who doesnโt, but what is their PRIORITY. To win or to win trough a certain pattern.
Nobody enters a business and dosent want to succeed...Todd himself said that if the season was from Boxing Day till the end of the season we would have been 4th..thatโs a significant amount of progress from where we were last season on the football side. So why change the anchor of the process and thatโs the question. Thatโs because regardless of what Poch did, the โdataโ wasnโt correlating with the way Poch set the team out to play and the players he used werenโt in line with how the โdataโ envisioned us to playโฆ.thereby devaluing the players that they spent so much to getโฆand thatโs a loss to them, but hats a W (in progress ) for us as a club. So there would be a huge clash between what the coach sees sometimes and what they think is best.
Poch prioritized experience and adaptability over just mere quality and stats and so he had to go because of the fear that he would be forced to coach how the board wants him to and thatโs why he kept telling people to ask his if he wants to continue.
Of course they want to win but is this the best way?
I said itโs a brilliant business model and business is important but not a plan solely for lifting trophies like a lot of us are used to each seasonโฆ.
Itโs a very different ball game altogetherโฆ.
It requires an influx and frequent recycling of talentโฆ.
Iโve always said that this โPROJECTโ is a very ambitious oneโฆ itโs could go incredibly wrong or amazingly rightโฆ.
And that is why I left you guys the first time to say what you think is best and not to solely say that they donโt want to win โฆ.. because the owners want a lineup with just their players in there.
And whilst some of the owners might prioritize time, some might not be willing to take risks at all, but follow the โdataโ to the core regardless of what the fans thinkโฆ.because thatโs the only recipe for success they know. | 13 252 | 8 | Loading... |
32 THE MYSTERY OF MISERY
Over the past few days after Poch was sacked Iโve been digging deep into what these owners actually intend to do and what is โThe planโ or โThe dataโโฆbecause they keep making those statements.
Today letโs talk about โThe planโโฆ
I think we forget that this club is owned by a boardโฆ
Clearlake capital owns 50-61%
meaning that itโs Eghbali and Jose own joint majority shares in the club, but since Todd comes to the limelight often and he was the first chairman, he catches all the stray bullets.
Of course he cannot say what he does and does not support in the board on airโฆbecause itโs not professional. On sky sports some few weeks ago he was talking about how we a were playing beautiful football under Poch.
The visions of these owners differ a lot, whilst Boehly gets his money from his businesses, like our former owner Roman, Clearlake capital gets their funding from investors who want profits on their investments in limited time.
Notice the clash in interests?
Investors want fast profits โฆ but when you run a business with your own money like Roman did, you expect a certain level of improvement over a period of time.
On the other hand, pressure from investors would lead to a club model that is heavily reliant on cashing out on players who have a high ceiling of performance.
Why do you think we keep buying young players in certain positions even though we have quality players there?
Why do we have Angelo, Madueke, Palmer and Omari and the owners keep buying? The plan is not to retain these players but to sell, to get profits on investments and spot talents before the world figures them out. Not so that they can become legends or win trophies but so they can make very good profits and thatโs why they have large contract years to make the money needed for them to leave the club even bigger.
That is also why they need a coach who grooms these players and doesnโt want to keep them like what Poch was trying to do for Gallagher and Chalobah.
Itโs because the plan has always been to make profits off those playersโฆ thereby adapting the strategy of other clubs like Brighton and RB LIEPZIG but on a much bigger scale.
This is not a plan for success but a business model. If you want clarity, why do you think the owners are still looking for young players?? And are sticking to their plan?
Why canโt we be like Madrid who retain their youngsters because they have a genuine plan to succeed?
Why was Poch sacked? And Boehly is talking about patience. Why is Eghbali not talking much even though heโs the main guy? What difference in vision was Tuchel sacked for?
Why do people keep leaving the club and they keep getting top recruiters from various clubs but they wonโt get Top coaches? They want someone who would play football that fits the PROFILE of the players so they can improve faster individually and sell off much fasterโฆ
Itโs a brilliant business model.. but is thatโs whatโs best for the club??
