A final-year student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) known as Desmond, has been shot dead by gunmen suspected to be cultists at about 2100hrs on Monday 3rd April 2023. Mr. Desmond also known as 'Mayor', a Kegite chief on campus, was attacked in his room at Hall 3 Hostel and shot in the face at point-blank range. His death incident has induced fear of staying on campus and in the hostel. Meanwhile, his body has been deposited in the mortuary at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
