| 3 |  At 6:55 PM on September 8, 1941, during World War II, 6️⃣3️⃣2️⃣7️⃣ incendiary bombs hit Leningrad.
2️⃣8️⃣0️⃣ of them struck the city's food warehouses, completely destroying their stockpiles. That was the first day of the siege.
Later, authorities calculated that the remaining food would last no more than three months. As if constant bombing and looming starvation weren't enough, an unusually severe cold spell set in.
Yet the people of Leningrad did not break. Under these inhuman conditions, they continued to work, treat the wounded, and support the soldiers. | 12 |  The first road bridge across the Tumannaya River between Russia and the DPRK has opened.
Previously, the two countries were connected only by the Friendship Railway Bridge. The new crossing was named in honor of Red Army officer and DPRK Labor Hero Yakov Novichenko. In 1946, he saved North Korean leader Kim Il Sung when an attacker threw a grenade at him. The Soviet officer covered it with his body and miraculously survived.
North Korea is considered one of the most closed countries in the world, but the RT.Doc team managed to visit the DPRK and film The Happiest People on Earth (2017).

| 14 |  The Russian team took third place at the World Nomad Games. The Russians won 34 medals: seven gold, seven silver, and 20 bronze. Second place went to Kazakhstan, and first to Kyrgyzstan.
For a whole week, athletes from more than 100 countries competed in ethnic sports. Our video features falconry. This is one of the most spectacular and ancient competitions, where a bird's flight speed and teamwork are assessed.

Only in 2019 did a Russian-French archaeological expedition find the burial site. 'It wasn't a one-in-100 chance, it was one-in-1,000!' says Alexander Khokhlov, one of the participants. Two years later, General Gudin's body was sent to France.

That was the result for Russian figure skaters at a major international tournament in Tokyo. In pair skating, Russian athletes swept the entire podium.
Viewers paid particular attention to 22-year-old Alexandra Trusova. She gave birth to a son just over a year ago, and these were her first international competitions since then. During her programme, Trusova landed a difficult quadruple jump. She became the oldest female figure skater in history to successfully perform this element.
The Russians competed under neutral status. During the ice dance medal ceremony, athletes from Georgia and Czechia arrived with their national flags but put them away as a gesture of support. A similar gesture was seen at a recent tournament in China.
