🔺Good manners: It has come on the authority of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that she said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Indeed a believer reaches through their good manners, the level of those that are fasting and standing in prayer in the night". Reported by Ahmad (no.24355, 24595, 25013, 25537) and Abu Daud (no.4798). (1) 🔺Jihaad in the path of Allah: As it has come on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet ﷺ said: "The likes of the Mujaahid in the path of Allah is like those that are fasting and standing in prayer in the night". Reported by Bukhari (no.2787), and Muslim (no.1878), and he added: "who assiduously recited the verses of Allah, isn't tired but fasting nor prayer, until the Mujaahid comes back from the path of Allah". And also in Muslim (no.1913) on the authority of Salmaan, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Standing guard and day and a night is better than fasting and standing the night in prayer for a month, and if they die then their actions which they were doing will continue, and his provisions will continue, and they will have safety from the Fattaan". Authored by the virtuous Shaykh: Abu Yusuf Najeeb bin Abdih bin Qaasim Ash-Shar'abi, may Allah preserve him and benefit Islam and the Muslims through him. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Actions which make its people reach the level of those fasting: From the angle which make its people reach the level of those fasting: 🔺 Giving food and drink to those breaking that are breaking the fast at the point of breaking the fast: The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever breaks the fast of someone fasting will have the reward the likes of theirs, and it won't diminish anything of the rewards of those fasting". Reported by Ahmad (no.17033, 21676), and Tirmidhi (no.807), and Ibn Maajah (no.1746), on the authority of Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him. (1) Imam, An-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: "It is preferred to invite those fasting and to break their fast during the time of the breaking of the fast, and there is no differing in this being preferred, based upon the Hadith". (2) And Imam, Ibn Baaz, may Allah have mercy upon him, was asked: "Is what's intended with those fasting, those that are poor? Or does relatives and friends enter into this? And does voluntary fasts contain the same reward when breaking their fasts? Whereby he, may Allah have mercy upon him, replied: "The Hadith is general, it encompasses the rich and the poor, the obligatory and the voluntary, and the grace of Allah is extensive, exalted is He and the most high". End of speech (3) And Imam, Ibn Utheymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: "The apparent of the Hadith is that of he breaks the fast of those fasting, even through a single date, then they will have a reward the likes of theirs, for this reason it is befitting that a person strives to break the fast of those fasting as much as possible, especially when their are needy and poor". End of speech (4) [Page 54] ___ 1) Tirmidhi said: "This Hadith is Hassan Sahih". And if has also been declared Sahih by: Ibn Khuzaymah (no.2064), Ibn Hibbaan (no.3429), Albaani in <Sahih At-Targheeb wat-Tarheeb> (no.1078). And look in <Tahqeeq Al-Musnad> (v.28/p.261-262). 2) <Al-Majmuu'> (v.6/p.363). 3) His <Majmuu' Fataawa> (v.25/p.207). 4) His <Majmuu' Fataawa> (v.20/p.93).

Imam Ahmad An-Najmi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: "And you see the lack of testing people, and you claim that it is an Innovation. Know - may Allah teach you - that the Prophet ﷺ tested the slave girl by saying to her: "Where is Allah?". She said: "Above the sky". He said: "Who am I?". She said: "You are the Messenger of Allah". He said: "Free her, for she indeed is a believer". And some of the Salaf said: "The sign of the people of Innovation is speaking ill to the people of Athar". They said: "If you see someone from Kufa speaking ill of Sufyan Ath-Thawri, know that he is a Shee'i, and if you see someone from Marruw speaking ill of Abdullah bin Al-Mubaarak, know that he is a Jahmi". And they said: "Whoever hides their Innovation from us, won't be able to hide from us where their being at harmony, lies". Meaning that he knows with this that they are an Innovator through whomever he associates with and is at harmony with, because they won't accompany and be at harmony except with those who they satisfied with their way. Finally: This is brief advice from brother to their brother, in which I wanted to alert you to some matters, and I ask Allah - Almighty is He - to improve everyone’s conditions, and to grant us success to what contains in it good in this world, and the hereafter, for He is All-Hearing and Near. And I ask Allah to protect us from the despicable fanaticism, and to make our actions sincere for His sake and intended to please Him therewith. May Allah send Salaat and Salaam upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions. Written by: Ahmed bin Yahya Al-Najmi Source: Al-Fatawa Al-Jaliya (Second Edition): 1/220-235.

Excerpt from Misbaah Adh-Dhalaam (p.244-246) By the Fadeelatush-Shaykh Abu Hatim Yusuf Al-'Inaabi Al-Jazaa'iree, may Allah preserve him and protect him: On the topic of affirming the permissibility of testing and investigating people, either people of the Sunnah and people of Innovation!

The Allaamah Abdulazeez Ar-Raajihi, may Allah preserve him, was asked: "Can we say: If you see a man who loves Ibn Baaz, Ibn Utheymeen, may Allah have mercy on them, and other people of knowledge, then know that he is a person of the Sunnah. And if you see a man who loves At-Tijaani and Al-Qaadiyaani and others from thr people of misguidance, then know that he is a person of Desires and Innovation? He replied: "Yes, it is permissible to say this, as loving the people of Eemaan is Eemaan and religion, and loving the people of Innovation and the people of Disbelief and Hypocrisy is transgression and hypocrisy, and this is a general principle. And this is why the Prophet ﷺ said: "Loving the Ansaar is Eemaan and hating the Ansaar is disbelief and hypocrisy". What is meant by the Ansaar: are the supporters of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ - and also the Ansaar after the Companions, everyone who supports the religion of Islam and calls to Islam and spreads the religion of Islam, then loving them is from Eemaan, and hating them is from disbelief and hypocrisy, and everyone who loves the people of innovation and the people of immorality, then this points towards  hypocrisy in their heart". End of speech, from his commentary on “Sharhusssunnah by Barbahaari”.

The Allaamah Zaid bin Haadi Al-Madkhali, may Allah preserve him, was asked. Question: What's the ruling of testing people, regardless with scholars of the Sunnah or through the head figures of the Innovators? And is this implemented upon the contemporaries? Benefit us may you be rewarded with good. Answer: There is no doubt O brother, that the Salaf-us-Saalih would test the people using the scholars those that are known for firmness upon the Sunnah and soundness of Creed and Manhaj, and were known for severity upon the people of desires and innovation, ten and more texts have come from the Salaf, each text coming with a clarification of the testing the people with the people of Sunnah, so whoever acknowledged their virtue and loved them and mentioned them with good, then they are a person of good and Sunnah, and whoever delves into them and speaks ill of their honour, then they are a person of evil and Innovation. For you are a few examples of the many Salafi texts in this: 1. Imam Barbahaari, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: "If you see a man loving Abu Hurairah and Anas bin Maalik and Usayd bin Hudhayr, then know that they are a person of the Sunnah, if Allah wills". 2. He also said: "If you see a man love Ayuub and Ibn Auwn and Ibn Idrees Al-Awdi and Ash-Sha'bi - and then he mentioned a congregation of these virtues people, until he said -: Know that he is a person of Sunnah". 3. He also said: "If you see a man love Ahmad bin Hanbal and Al-Hajjaaj bin Al-Minhaal and Ahmad bin Nasr, and mentions them with good, and takes their positions, then know that he is a person of Sunnah". End of speech from <Sharh Us-Sunnah> (p.117-118). You said in your question is this implemented upon the contemporaries int his days of ours? Answer: Yes, the people are tested in every time and place with Ahlussunnah of Aqeedah and legislation; i.e those that have dedicated themselves for the preservation of the Sunnah, and understanding of the meanings of its legislative texts, and acting upon what the legislative texts necessitate, and call the people to learning it and acting upon it, and defend it. And testing of the people by way of Ahlussunnah isn't restricted to a certain individual or individuals.  Rather, the people may be tested with every person of Sunnah in all places and at all times upon the description which was mentioned. Likewise, the people are tested with the people of Innovations, those who call to it. It has come on the authority of Uqbah bin Alqamah who said: "I was with Arta'ah Ibn Al-Mundhir. So some of the people in the gathering said: "What do you say about the man who sits with Ahlus Sunnah and mixes with them, but when the people of Innovation are mentioned, he replies: "Leave us alone from their mention, do not mention them" Arta'ah replied: "He is from them, don't let his affair deceive you". He said: "So I found issue with the statement of Arta'ah". He said: "So I went to Al-Awzaa'i since he was would uncover these issues when it reaches him, so he said: "Arta'ah has spoken the truth. And the position is that what he stated". Then Al-Awzaa'i said: "When will they be cautioned from is their mention isn't publicised?". <Taareekh Dimishq> (8/15). And Al-Awzaa'i, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: "Whoever hides their Innovation from us can't hide from us where their being at harmony with, lies". <Al-Ibaanah by Ibn Battah> (2/479). And Al-Ukbari - and he is Ibn Battah - said: "When Sufyaan Ath-Thawri approached Basrah he took to looking at the affair of Ar-Rabee' -meaning Ibn Subayh- and his level with the people, he asked: "What is his Madhab?". They said: "His Madhab is nothing but the Sunnah". Then he said: "Who are his ˹Bitaamah˺ those that are around him his, close companions?". They said: "The people of Al-Qadr". He said: "Then he is a Qadri!". And the examples in this subject are many, and the indication to what's requested has been clarified". End of speech from Al-Ajwibah Al-Athariyyah (p.28-30).

🔺 Feeding the poor, general charity and being generous, visiting the sick, following funeral procession, if all of this could be done together or when ever it is facilitated and revising the Qur'an: As it comes in the two Sahihs on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the most generous of the people, and he was as generous as one can be when Jibreel meets him, and Jibreel would meet him every night at Ramadan, and revise the Qur'an with him, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when meeting Jibreel would be more generous with good, than blowing wind". (1) And in Muslim (no.1028) on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Who woke up fasting today from amongst you?". Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Me". Then he said: "Then who from you followed a funeral procession today?". Then Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Me". Then he said: "Then who from you visited someone sick?". Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Me". Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "These affairs don't come together within a person except that they will enter Jannah". 🔺Doing Umrah in Ramadan: As it has come in the two Sahihs on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet ﷺ said: "An Umrah in Ramadan is like a Hajj, or a Hajj with me". (2) [Page 57] _ 1) Bukhari (no.6,1092,3220,3554,4997), and Muslim (no.2308). 2) Bukhari (no.1863), Muslim (no.1252).

And his statement: "until they break the fast": i.e as long as they are fasting, contrary to what many of the people think, that the time of the supplications of those fasting being accepted is at their break of the fast! And there isn't any authentic to be said specifically at the breaking of the fast, and the best of what has been mentioned in this subject matter is the Hadith of Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would when breaking the fast say: "The thirst has went and the veins have been moistened, and the reward has been affirmed, if Allah wills". Reported by Abu Daud, and it has been declared Hassan by some, and its chain of narration contains critique. (1) [Page 56] ____ 1) <Sunan Abu Daud> (no.2357) from the route of Al-Hussayn bin Waaqid, from Warwaan bin Saalim Al-Muqaffa', from Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him. And reported by Al-Bazzaar (no.5395), then he said: "We don't know it to be narrated from the Prophet ﷺ except from this angle, with this chain of narration". And reported by Daaraqutni (no.22279), then he said: "Al-Hussayn bin Waaqid was alone in this, and its chain of narration is Hassan". And similarly said by Albaani, may Allah have mercy upon him, in "Al-Irwaa" (no.920). Al-Haakim observed this upon the two Shaykhs (no.1536), then said: "This is an authentic Hadith upon the condition of Bukhari, as he has used Al-Hussayn bin Waaqid and Marwaan Al-Muqaffa' as an evidence". And a mistake occured: From [Bukhari] in the print to [The two Shaykhs!] and [he has used as evidence] to [they have used as evidence!]. And Al-Hussayn bin Waaqid is from the men of Muslim, and is a little bit of speech regarding him, and it doesn't descend his Hadith from the level of Hassan, but he was like in this Hadith from Marwaan bin Saalim Al-Muqaffa', and Ibn Hibbaan was alone in the declaration of Marwaan being trustworthy (v.5/p.424), and it was narrated besides Al-Hussayn bin Waaqid by: Azrah bin Thaabit. Al-Haafidh, Abu Abdillah bin Mandah said - as found in <Tahdeeb Al-Kamaal> (v.27/p.491): "This Hadith is Ghareeb, we haven't written except from the Hadith of Al-Hussayn bin Waaqid". And Adh-Dhahabi mentioned in <Al-Miyzaan> (v.4/p.91) in the biography of this Marwaan, i.e: he rebuked it upon him, it is his custom in doing so (in his book).
