Scientists believe that computers will become more intelligent than human beings. Some people find it positive while others think it is a negative development.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
There is a debate over whether the advancements in the field of technology and computers can surpass human beings. In my opinion, while there are several disadvantages to having more intelligent computers than humans, these computers can be much more beneficial, as they foster productivity at work and lessen daily workload.
On the one hand, one of the primary reasons why intelligent computers are considered negative is that it tends to bring about mass redundancy. Once robots and functional computers start possessing several jobs, there will not usually be need for some employees who are doing trivial and repetitive tasks. Programming can be a great example, as many developers are getting redundant due to AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT, which can easily create functions and templates with clear instructions in relatively short period of time. Another drawback of having technologies that are more advanced than humans is the fear of robot invasion. Although people are still unaware of the capabilities of these technologies, some argue that they can be potential threat for humanity in the long-term future.
I, on the other hand, believe that there are some advantages of using intelligent computers in both work and family settings. First, owning such devices is likely to foster productivity, for they usually handle mundane and repetitive tasks, paving the way for employees to engage in more labour-intensive activities. This, in turn, tends to improve the efficiency of both company and individuals themselves. Additionally, modern computers may come in useful in terms of work-life balance. Since they handle most of the time-consuming tasks at work, people can have more time to spend with their families.
To sum up, possessing highly intelligent computers can have upsides and downsides. While redundancy and a fear of invasion are the main drawbacks, I firmly believe that improved productivity and less workload due to these technologies are more likely to be beneficial for human beings.
