Anti-war podium in front of 400 participants in Cologne
(Deutsch in Kommentaren//Francais dans les commentaires)
Dorcas of the FreeCongo Collective spoke with people from Iran and Rojava on the feminist podium at Rheinmetall Entwaffnen about the causes of war in Congo:
1️⃣ The so-called Berlin Conference of 1884/1885 violently divided the country.
2️⃣ Systematic violence is destroying society and especially women* in Congo.
3️⃣ Patriarchal structures are a major cause that the Congolese government also pursues.
4️⃣ Today's conflicts are also related to the genocide in Rwanda, the size of the country (Congo is almost as big as Europe) and the ongoing exploitation by global corporations.
5️⃣ Get active for Congo Week! 18-24. October 2026 in Berlin and other cities.

🕯️2nd august Genocost Remembrance Day 💔
(Deutsch in Kommentaren//Francais dans les commentaires)
Genost refers to the 30 year long war and genocide for economic gain in the D.R. Congo. Millions of people died due to this war fueled by the greed for mineral exploitation.
🪦Every second august this genocide is remembered. This year CBA activists have organized commemorations in different cities in the DRC and also in Tanzania and in Germany.
🇹🇿A report from the commemoration in Tanzania:
„We have finally held a commemoration of the Genocost here in Tanzania, in collaboration with the Congolese Embassy, in solidarity with the Tanzanian people.
It was a success.
🇨🇩We began with a service in honour of the dead, followed by the unveiling of the memorial and speeches by representatives from the Congolese Embassy and the Congolese community living in Tanzania. We laid flowers and signed the book of condolences; afterwards, all the Congolese activists gathered, some of whom had travelled from Beni and Butembo.“
❗️It‘s important that more people know about the Genocost, as the western exploitation is the main reason for these deaths.

❗️URGENT APPEAL FOR THE RELEASE OF CLOVIS MUTSUVA
(Deutsch in Kommentaren//Francais dans les commentaires)
After a month of summer break, we‘re back with an very important and urgent international solidarity call for the release of an DRC activist.
🆘For nearly a week, Congolese activist Clovis Mutsuva has been held after his brutal arrest in downtown Beni in the east of the DRC, ordered by Military Governor Evariste Somo.
✊🏿Renowned for his civic commitment to good governance and youth political participation amid persistent crisis, the charges brought against him by the military justice system of North Kivu are baseless and unfounded.
🩸Shortly before this, Clovis Mutsuva had forcefully denounced the massacres of civilian populations by ADF-NALU, a virulent terrorist group operating in the region for nearly ten years, as well as the inaction of local authorities regarding several local development projects.
🙏🏾Therefore, we call on the governor to make significant efforts to improve governance and, above all, to honor those who, at great personal risk, defend the
population daily!
❗️❗️Consequently, the immediate and unconditional release of Clovis remains an absolute priority!

Europe actually ends „right of asylum“ - and wants to pay Rwanda for building refugee imprisonment centers
(Deutsch in Kommentaren//francais dans les commentaires)
Today it’s International Refugee Day.
😡Only some days after the EU passed the GEAS law, with the votes of extreme right and conservative parties together. This law practically ends the right to get asylum in Europe. It was passed under the disgusting shouting of extreme right parties in the EU parliament.
🌍🇨🇩But one aspect is little mentioned in the media reports about this shocking law. Rwanda, which has occupied parts of the east of the DRC, funds the war there and plundering the minerals of the DRC, will profit a lot from this law. This GEAS law allows the building of imprisonment centers, called „Return Hubs“, in countries outside of Europe where Europe plans to send refugees from many different countries, before a decision in the asylum process has been taken. Even children can be imprisoned there. These centers are planned in countries like Rwanda, which gets much money for them from the EU.
🪧✊🏿We can‘t accept this erosion of human rights. Let‘s get loud against this terrible law and defend the human right of asylum!
Show solidarity with refugees in and outside of Europe, who are suffering enormously under this law. Speak about what it means for the people in the DRC, too.

📢📢🇨🇩 On the occasion of #GlobalWeekOfActions, we brought together young activists, community leaders and environmental defenders from villages in South Kivu (DRC) 🌍
(Deutsch in Kommentaren//Francais dans les commentaires)
✊ Objective: strengthen our commitment to environmental, social and economic justice in the DRC.
This meeting made it possible to document the real impacts of Glencore’s mining activities on our communities and to reaffirm our common position regarding water pollution, violations of community rights, to the forced displacement and damage caused by the extraction of copper 🟧, cobalt ⚡️ and other minerals 🪨.
❓👉 Since 2007, affected communities have been demanding accountability, transparency and reparation for the damages suffered.
❌ We also denounce the complicity of certain authorities and multinationals that make these injustices possible.
📩 Our message is clear and straightforward: KICK GLENCORE OUT OF DRC!
🔥 Beyond South Kivu, our comrades in Kisangani also mobilized for the GWA to attack Glencore on all sides.
People first, not profit ! ✊🇨🇩
