The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has issued a statement following claims that some Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results are being changed at a fee.
KNEC refuted the claims on Monday, January 15 insisting that the alleged social media posts and sample results did not emanate from its portal.
The council thus warned parents and the 2023 KCSE candidates to be weary of individuals purporting to represent KNEC officials who are demanding money to adjust results.
According to the examinations council, the scheme is being pushed by individuals seeking to defraud parents.
"Do not fall prey to fraudsters purporting to be able to change KCSE grades. Don't be conned!" KNEC stated while flagging the alleged numbers listed by the individuals purporting to represent the council.

However, KNEC made it clear that it was a fraudulent scheme.
The sprouting of the scheme came after Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu ended SMS service in checking for KCSE results.
This was after irregularities were recorded during the dissemination of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam results through SMS.
Nonetheless, KNEC advised all candidates to lodge their complaints to allow for rectification.
"Anybody who has pending examination matters should take the opportunity that the Council has extended to them within the next four years. Similarly, as we are releasing examination results today, there is provision in the KNEC Act that if anybody has any issues with the results, you have 30 days to engage KNEC to get any corrections or or any clarifications necessary," KNEC stated during the release of 2023 KCSE results. | 56 |
