i’ve probably seen these two movies a combined 20 times. the green mile is a personal favorite of mine simply because of how potent the message is - especially for our modern times.

while the shawshank redemption is a retelling of Jesus life, death, and resurrection. the Bible is literally Andy’s salvation, figuratively and literally, because that’s where he hides his rock pick.

the green mile is a tale of redemption through Christ and the healing we can achieve through him - in a world poisoned by sin, darkness, and deep-set malady.

it’s very telling that two of the best prison movies (arguably best movies) ever made are both Christian allegories.
