Today is Helen Keller Day. Most of us know Keller as an "inspiring" disability icon who "overcame" her deaf-blindness, a narrative that is comfortable in an ableist world. Her autobiography, "The Story of My Life," is the only work people discuss and teach in schools. How many of you know that she was a radical and political person? She was an active member of the Socialist Party and had written many critiques on race, gender, ability, and was probably the first disability activist to recognize the links between capitalism and ableism. #HelenKeller https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02X8KP9kr1DdzGKZWEgAtGvzFrDAZcJpCyuAmnne6rjBD7pNWebkmre3FTRyRL5uaBl&id=1099100816&mibextid=Nif5oz
