Citi says 1. Expectations are for an unchanged policy rate and a dovish stance from the Fed at the upcoming FOMC meeting. 2. If markets are already anticipating this, there's a potential for a USD rally on the day due to a low bar for a hawkish reaction. 3. A strong CPI print on Tuesday could raise expectations, leading to potential market repricing and potentially influencing Chair Powell to resist rate cuts, even if only slightly.
