Leetcode. Do I really have to? [non-FAANG] plJL74 @ Intuit Android dev here. I don’t need to FAANG, but I’d like to target same tier as Intuit or one tier up. For mid to senior mobile dev roles are your companies still in the habit of asking LC for technical screens or as part of an onsite/final round? And don’t get me wrong, FAANG would be amazing, just a lot of demands on my time right now and I don’t know that I can invest time needed to pull it off. My boss had a manual 2016 one and it was a beauty. I support my parents as they don't work - the rental income pays for their monthly expenses. Parents live in our home in a different city, my wife and I live on rent. I'm currently an L6 SDM @ amzn - TC ~400 NW ~ 1.3M (equity in 2 homes, personal and rental, 401k and cash savings) My wife makes 80-100k Family income 475-500k Age 29 YOE: 7 Car costs around 120-180k; depending on config and whether I buy new or CPO. Jealous of over night millionaires LnCE50 @ Microsoft Tl;dr: This is a rant I can’t get out of jealousness of people who achieved 1m+ nw recently due to crazy stock growth recently. One of my friend has been working in nvidia since 2019. Another has been in Amazon since 2014. Started in Meta last year. What have been I doing so far? I jumped around few other companies but did not get a lot of money. Did not get promoted. Did not get 100k raise. My tiny RSU grants only up 20% since I joined. I still cannot afford a house in seattle area after moving to US 5 yrs ago. I know it sounds stupid. It’s first world problem. I know it does not happen to everyone. I know some people get laid off and even having a job is a thing to appreciate. But it feels like everyone except me is making huge money while I’m rotting here. Fuck. Why do people get dogs? hxhfbDjf @ EA Almost every dog I've met is annoying as hell. The small ones are loud and obnoxious and the big ones jump on you and try to lick your face. A small number of them are chill like cats. Every cat I've ever met has either been friendly/chill or scared and just runs away and hides. You can take your dog out easier which is nice, but you can also take your cat out on a leash. Like why? @blind_feed

Layoffs at company I was interviewing for RenfieldD @ Activision Blizzard Currently in the interview loop for Build a Rocket Boy and they've just announced layoffs. From what I can see, there are no layoffs in engineering, mostly QA and non-dev. I have an interview scheduled and they've not said anything about the role being removed, so I assume they're still hiring for it (although it's still early days, the layoffs have just been announced) but it makes me nervous that they may have another round affecting more of the development roles. They're also very large for an independent (400+) which makes me even more nervous. Going to try and finish the interview process regardless but I'm wondering what to do If I get the offer. @blind_feed
