Repost from N/a
hi everyone, i know i don't usually talk about topics like this here but i think it's best if i do.
gaza has had their telecommunications cut off around 9pm yesterday and bombs (including internationally banned bombs such as white phosphorus bombs, which can burn down the the bone) were dropped while they were in the dark. so, it means that the world has had almost zero updates regarding what is happening real-time because the people in gaza themselves were not able to share it outside.
please read this carrd to educate yourself, i'll be sharing more here to raise awareness. it is also important that you cut down on brands that support israel to the best of your ability if u are not able to completely boycott it

i forgot who's channel this was from but i think its from last year's o's takers
endothermic chemical reaction examples - DisPosable
1) thermal decomposition
2) photosynthesis
exothermic chemical reaction examples - Call Sumaiyah Don’t Regret Now
1) combustion / corrosion of metals
2) synthesis (2 simple substances -> complex substances)
3) displacement
4) respiration
5) neutralisation
SALTS
titration : both reactants are aqueous
1) pipette known vol of HCl into conical flask w phenolphthalein
2) HCl titrated with NaOH solution in the burette, stop when pink appears
3) repeat the experiment with known volume of HCl and NaOH w/o indicator (pure salt)
3) transfer to evaporating dish and heat until saturated, allow to cool
adding excess solid : one of the reactants are insoluble base/carbonate
1) add excess CuO to a known volume of dilute H2SO4 solution, stir
2) filter CuSO4 solution to removes excess CuO
3) transfer the solution to an evaporating dish and heat until saturated, allow to cool
precipitation: reactants aqueous, salt produced insoluble (my father washes dishes)
1) mix and stir, filter, wash and pat dry with filter paper
metals w cold water - metal hydroxide and hydrogen gas (up to Mg)
metals w steam - metal oxide and hydrogen gas (up to Fe)
ORGANIC CHEM
alkane : CnH2n+2
> substitution, UV light, (di/tri)chloromethane and HCl
alkene : CnH2n
> hydrogenation, nickel, 180°c, (veg oil to margarine)
> bromination, dibromoethane
> addition polymerisation, 100 atm, 200°c, plastic products
> produced by cracking, 600°c, Al2O3/SiO2 (porcelain chips)
alcohol : CnH2n+1OH
> fermentation, 40°c, 15%
> oxidation
carboxylic acids : CnH2n-1COOH
AIR !
- nitrogen 78%, O2 21%, argon is the most abundant noble gas
- pollutants : unwanted substances which are harmful for living things and the environment
- CO : incomplete combustion
- SO2 : volcanic activity, combustion of fossil fuels w sulfur
- NO, NO2 : car engines, high temp, lightning activity
- CH4 : decay of dead organic matter
- acid rain pH 4-5
- test for sulfur dioxide in air with acidified potassium manganate
