Earlier yesterday (03/06/2026) morning, tension gripped parts of Osogbo after a young man dressed in Nigerian Army camouflage and allegedly in possession of a firearm was apprehended by concerned residents. The incident triggered panic among members of the community, who feared he could be linked to criminal elements responsible for the rising cases of banditry and kidnapping across the country. Acting swiftly, residents alerted security operatives, and the suspect was subsequently handed over to the nearest police station. Authorities have since commenced investigations to ascertain his identity, verify the circumstances surrounding the incident, and determine any possible security implications.

Osun Police Dismiss Rumoured Of Bandit Attacks In Ikirun, Inisa
...warn against fake news
The Osun State Police Command has dismissed reports of alleged bandit invasion and attacks in Ikirun, Inisa, Iree and surrounding communities, urging residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear.
Speaking during a telephone interview with Saalim FM News on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, described the reports as false and misleading.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, has directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the affected areas to commence immediate patrol operations to strengthen security and reassure residents of the safety of their lives and property.
He also cautioned residents against the dissemination of unverified information, warning that individuals found spreading fake news or inciting panic through false reports would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
