The ragging took place on February 18. NLIU's anti-ragging committee chairman Prof Uday Pratap Singh confirmed to TOI that 3 students have been expelled from the hostel. As per NLIU officials, a complaint was registered on UGC's anti-ragging helpline by a first-year student after he was allegedly ragged on the campus. An anti-ragging committee member said, "there were serious charges against the senior students. In our campus, the junior and senior students do not stay with each other in the hostel. However, these three senior students went to the junior hostel which was not acceptable," said the member. NLIU officials said that the victim's parents came to the NLIU campus after the ragging incident and was pressing for a complaint against the senior students for ill-treating their son.
