A little late, but on October 6, 1536, William Tyndale was strangled and burned at the stake for translating the NT into English. His account is documented in John Foxe’s Acts and Monuments (Book of Martyrs). This is from the 1641 edition volume 2 from my library, his last words being “Lord, open the King of England’s eyes”. His act led to all the subsequent English language Bibles, from the Coverdale, Matthew, Geneva, Bishops’, King James, and even the RCC’s response with their own Douay Rheims. It’s a reminder that there were once those willing to die for their faith, and of things we take for granted today. This likely hasn’t been read much in 382 years.
