Verses discussing the nature of Varna and how it is conferred upon an individual from Mahabharata, Anushasana Parva, Section CXLIII: That Brahmana of little understanding, who, impelled by cupidity and folly, follows the practices assigned to Vaisyas forgetful of his status as a Brahmana that is exceedingly difficult to attain, comes to be regarded as one that has become a Vaisya. Similarly, one that is a Vaisya by birth may, by following the practices of a Sudra, become a Sudra. Indeed, a Brahmana, falling away from the duties of his own order, may descend to the status of even a Sudra, Such a Brahmana, falling away from the order of his birth and turned out of it, without attaining to the region of Brahmana (which is his goal if he duly observes his own duties), sinks into Hell and in his next birth becomes born as a Sudra. Even a Sudra, O goddess, that has purified his soul by pure deeds and that has subjugated all his senses, deserves to be waited upon and served with reverence as a Brahmana. This has been said by the Self-born Brahmana himself. When a pious nature and pious deeds are noticeable in even a Sudra, he should, according to my opinion, be held superior to a person of the three regenerate classes. Neither birth, nor the purificatory rites, nor learning, nor offspring, can be regarded as grounds for conferring upon one the status of brahmana. Verily, conduct is the only ground. All Brahmanas in this world are Brahmanas in consequence of conduct.

Farming, cattle raising and business are the qualities of work for the vaisyas, and for the sudras there is labor and service to others. - Bhagavad Gita 18.44 The role of the Vaishya is crucial to the stability of the Earth and the well-being of all people. Vaishyas engage in farming and protect cows, ensuring these animals receive the purest food. This care results in high-quality milk, vital for nourishing everyone. A content and well-cared-for cow population contributes to a thriving, healthy society. Vaishyas also prioritize ethical farming practices, avoiding toxic chemicals that harm the soil. They focus on producing nutritious, high-quality food rather than merely high-yield crops. By maintaining this delicate balance, Vaishyas provide for the world while acting as guardians of the land. They take pride in cultivating and preserving fertile, healthy soil. The vaishyas are those who, to borrow a quote from Tolkien, delight in well-tilled earth, because the earth that is prepared in the most natural way, with care and attention, for the production of high-quality, sattvic foods is the best. The earth is crying out for vaishyas.

As the unconscious milk functions for the sake of nourishment of the calf, so the Prakriti functions for the sake of moksha of the spirit. — Samkhya karika, Verse 57

When it comes to the spiritual life, mere imitation leads us nowhere. Instead, we must learn to take instruction from spiritual preceptors and aim to follow their guidance sincerely. Imitating outward forms without understanding the essence is as useful as an empty husk to a hungry man. Instead, we must internalize the teachings, integrating them into our daily lives with genuine understanding and heartfelt practice. Only then can we cultivate true spiritual growth and experience the transformative power of these teachings.

Repost from SanatanaDharma
Large cities today are unsustainable hellscapes. All federal funding for the 350 most populated cities in America must cease entirely. Funding should be given, instead, to cities, towns and villages of 50,000 residents or less until they are all self-sustaining and prosperous again.

🪷🪷🪷🐚🪷🪷🪷 “Now we will enumerate the faults which tend to destroy the creatures. These are anger, exultation, whining, covetousness, perplexity, doing injury, hypocrisy, lying, gluttony, slander, envy, lust, secret hatred, neglect to keep the senses under control, and neglecting to concentrate the mind. The eradication of these faults takes place through the means of liberation called Yoga.” Repost from J.R.R. Tolkien
“Eomer said, 'How is a man to judge what to do in such times?' As he has ever judged,' said Aragorn. 'Good and evil have not changed since yesteryear, nor are they one thing among Elves and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house.” - The Two Towers
