WHEN TO HARVEST GARLIC
Garlic is usually ready to harvest in late Spring to mid-Summer.
Since garlic heads form under the ground, you have to judge by the leaves as to when the plants are ready to harvest. General rule is for half of the leaves to have died off before the garlic is ready to harvest. The leaves will start dying off from the bottom up. When half of the leaves have died, stop watering for 1 week then it’s time to harvest.
So a little more patience is required while we all wait for our garlic to be ready but, in the meantime, keep up your fortnightly feeding with nitrogen fertiliser to grow nice big heads of garlic.

You’ve gotta love seeds that germinate FAST!
Here is the “Salad Bowl” bed I planted only last weekend and already everything has come up and looking healthy.
Post some photos here of your germinating seeds and spring garden. I’d love to see your success 💕💕

Good morning Folks.
A decent variety of half price specials on this week to help build your food storage or just feed your now considering the cost of living at the moment.
Some proteins as well as carbs this week.
Baked beans are always my best pick for food storage because it has all of the nutrients of vegetables PLUS a high level of protein so it’s a good meal just by itself. And it can be eaten quite pleasantly cold or the cans heated in the sun if there’s no cooking facilities. So give old fashioned baked beans a spot in your food storage 👍👍
I know we’re trying to avoid the majors and shop locally but you also need to feed your family in times when food prices have skyrocketed.
