TEA TIME TIP “Cut and come again” veges Following on from this morning’s vid, here’s a list of veges that will regrow if you DON’T pull them out when you harvest them but rather chop them off or harvest outside leaves and let them continue to grow: Lettuce Spring onions Broccoli (but NOT cauliflower) Cabbage Rhubarb Asparagus Spinach Kale Herbs Celery Bok choi Chives Beetroot greens (tops) Lettuce, broccoli and cabbage will grow smaller but still very edible heads and all of these save you time and give you more veges in a quicker time. TEA TIME TIP Maximise your growing space Pictured are some great ideas to maximise growing space in your garden by going VERTICAL!! Balconies, patios, small gardens or any garden where you’re looking to maximise your crop. Just fill the various containers with good quality potting mix to plant in. They’re perfect for strawberries, herbs and leafy greens. Some are products you can buy online (search “stackable planter” or “pocket planter”), in stores, or make yourself from new or recycled materials. What to plant in the shade: If you’ve got a shady garden or balcony area, or if you’re concerned that we’re not getting very much sunshine at the moment, then you could consider some of these veges to plant in your patch: Asparagus Rocket Lettuce Spinach Kale Bok Choi Beetroot Carrots Cauliflower Celery Garlic Leeks Parsnips Peas Potatoes Radish Rhubarb Just make sure you’ve got good quality, fertile soil or potting mix and expect a smaller yield with a longer time until you harvest. Still - try to get as much sun onto your plants as you can ☀️ #becksbasics

SAVING CUCUMBER/MELON SEEDS Here’s how to save seeds from melons you’ve grown yourself to save yo money next season. Saving your own seeds also gives you the advantage of your vegetables “acclimatising “ to your area which means they’ll adjust to your climate and grow EVEN BETTER next season 👍👍 #becksbasics

PS - I’ll have autumn seeds for you in a couple of weeks. If you’re in a warm or hot region, I’d hold off until later In January to start autumn seedlings as they may bolt straight to seed if the weather is too hot. Cool and temperate areas can start sooner. 🥰Beck
