AL MADINA DAWAH CENTRE GLOBAL MOONSIGHTING UPDATE: The moon has been sighted in multiple areas of Saudi Arabia. Ramadan will begin on Monday 11th of March for those who follow the Global Moon Sighting Opinion. Isha and Taraweeh will be prayed at 840pm at 54 Kitchener Parade Bankstown May Allah (swt) accept your deeds this month and forgive you of your sins. Ameen _______ If news of the sighting of the new moon reached you after Fajr, and you had not intended to fast from the night before, then you must stop eating and drinking for the rest of the day, but you have to make up for that day according to the majority of scholars. Ibn Qudaamah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If someone woke up not fasting, believing that it was still Sha‘baan, then proof was established that the moon had been sighted, he has to stop eating and drinking, but he must make up that day, according to the view of most of the fuqaha’. End quote from al-Mughni (3/34).

Assalamualykum brothers and sisters, No moon sighting has been confirmed locally in Australia or by our contacts in Malaysia and Indonesia. This does NOT eliminate the possibility of it being sighted before Fajr (Sydney, Australia). Please remain patient upon following the Sunnah, which is the middle and safest path to take. We advise the brothers and sisters to either wake up before Fajr and check for an announcement or upon awaking for Fajr confirm no announcement has been made. We at AMDC have not eliminated the chance of a sighting globally. Our cut-off of the search for the new moon will end up until Fajr. We ask Allah (swt) to guide us and you to that which is right. Ameen AMDC SHURA COUNCIL
