#News Eating Enough Doesn’t Always Mean Eating Well, So How Can Children Eat a Balanced Diet?
A full tummy doesn’t always mean a balanced diet. A local survey found that 40% of the meals parents prepare for their children each week contain processed foods. Many parents also tend to serve foods their children enjoy, as they are more likely to eat them readily, making mealtimes less of a struggle.
The survey also found that lower-income families face greater challenges in accessing nutritious meals. Through its Nutritious Meals Support programme, Tzu-Chi Foundation (Singapore) helps children from lower-income families develop healthier eating habits.
So, what can parents do to encourage their children to eat a more balanced diet?

#News Congratulations to our CEO Mr Low Swee Seh on receiving the National Environment Agency’s 17th #EcoFriend Award!🎉
The award recognises Mr Low’s longstanding commitment to environmental sustainability and his efforts to encourage Tzu Chi staff and volunteers to contribute to a cleaner, greener future. He inspires communities to embrace the 5R principles and make more conscious choices in their everyday lives. At Tzu Chi, he oversees the organisation’s environmental education and recycling initiatives, including the Glow On Gallery and Zero Market, which make sustainable living more accessible to the community.
One of the flagship initiatives is the Tzu Chi Environmental Sustainability Day, which began in 1999. In her speech at the award ceremony, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Ms Grace Fu highlighted how the initiative has grown to span 39 neighbourhoods across Singapore, with support from Residents’ Committees. In addition to educating residents and volunteers on recycling, the initiative has helped divert more than 10 million kilograms of recyclables from the Semakau Landfill to date.
Congratulations, Mr Low, on this well-deserved recognition. In accepting the award, Mr Low said that the recognition truly belongs to the Tzu Chi staff and volunteers who have supported these initiatives wholeheartedly. Their dedication and collective efforts have been instrumental in bringing Tzu Chi’s environmental initiatives to the community.
Check out this year's award winners and their green efforts in the video!

#News Lakeside Family Medicine Clinic (#LFMC) partnered with the Nursing Department at Nanyang Polytechnic (#NYP), where 23 students worked in four groups to create a series of health education materials.
The materials focused on the “Three Highs” — the health impact of consuming too much sugar, salt, and fat. They were presented in various formats, including posters, a test tube model, and an online quiz. One group even developed a Nutri-Quest calendar, featuring QR codes that users can scan to access related content.
On 12 August 2026, the students presented their work at Tzu Chi Food Farmacy. The materials will later be displayed in the clinic on TV screens, notice boards, and through interactive activities, giving patients an opportunity to learn more about healthy eating while they wait. Beyond making waiting time more meaningful, the initiative brings a little more care and warmth to the clinic experience.

#News Our heartfelt gratitude to #SATA CommHealth for its generous support of 590 blood pressure monitors, 500 home medical kits and 550 water bottles. These practical essentials will provide meaningful support to Tzu Chi beneficiaries in their daily lives, while the home medical kits offer essential supplies for treating minor wounds and burns at home and reducing the risk of infections.
The blood pressure monitors have also helped us strengthen our efforts to promote preventive healthcare in the community. Together with partners such as SATA CommHealth, we hope to encourage greater awareness of preventive health measures, including vaccination and regular health checks.
We were also pleased to meet Mr Tan Kee Guan, Chief Operating Officer, and his team to exchange ideas, learn more about our shared motivations and explore potential areas for collaboration.
We look forward to working together to promote healthier communities and support more people in need!

Tzu-Chi Foundation (Singapore) is honoured to receive the Catalyst Award at the Digital for Life (DfL) Partners Appreciation event on 17 July 2026, organised by IMDA.
This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our partners, volunteers, and staff who have worked alongside us to advance digital inclusion. Through collaborations and organising of the DfL Learn Digital Workshops, we have helped beneficiaries and volunteers build the skills and confidence to navigate an increasingly digital world.
While we are grateful for this recognition, we see it as an encouragement to do more. As technology continues to evolve, so too must our efforts to strengthen digital literacy and cyber awareness across the community.
We look forward to deepening our collaboration with IMDA and like-minded partners to create more opportunities for lifelong learning and digital inclusion.

#News Parent-Child Para Sports Challenge: "It's Much Harder Than We Imagined!"
At the age of seven, Caleb Lee lost the full use of the muscles on one side of his body after an accident. But he refused to let that define his life. He took up table tennis at 11, trained tirelessly over the years, and went on to win a silver medal at the Asian Youth Para Games.
At the Parent-Child Sports Day, jointly organised by Tzu Chi's Parent-Child Bonding Class and the Tzu Chi Teenagers' Group, Caleb shared how he overcame physical limitations and pursued his dreams with courage.

#News Intentional Rest: Reclaiming Your Mind and Body Well-Being💚
In today's fast-paced world, packed schedules often leave little room for genuine rest. While scrolling through our phones or watching short videos may feel relaxing, our brains are still processing a constant stream of information.
According to American physician Dr Saundra Dalton-Smith, who introduced the Seven Types of Rest framework, sleep alone isn't enough to overcome fatigue.
To encourage people to embrace Intentional Rest, Tzu-Chi Foundation (Singapore) hosted the second edition of SYNC. Festival, inviting the public to discover different ways to rest, prioritise self-care, and recognise that rest is not a luxury, but an essential part of living well.
