4	🚗🚙🏎🚑🚐🛻🚚🚛🚜🛵🏍🛺 They're trying to get vehicles off the road *** CONSULTATION CLOSES 6TH SEPT 2026 *** Forwarded: So the government is going to try and effectively remove vehicles from the road. They've created a sneaky consultation on this huge change with a end date of only the 6th of September. They want to have a yearly emissions check on every car and motorcycle on the road AS WELL as your MOT. If you pass the MOT but then go to your emissions check, if the vehicle doesn't emit exactly the same emissions as when it was built the car will be banned from any use on the road even if it passed its MOT emissions. This will effectively destroy a majority of the car industry as car tuning and modification will stop you been able to drive your car. This is targeting all vehicle, cars, motorbikes, trikes, kit cars etc. So far they are just targeting cars after 2001 but they want to use it on every vehicle on the road targeting mot & tax exempt (historic) vehicles. They've purposely not given this consultation much time, so please go to the bottom of this page, tell them you do not want any of this from the government and share the consultation for others to do the same. 'Andy Burnham will set out of the policy this week, which will apply to planning applications of more than 150 homes, high-rise blocks over 30m, or more than 15,000 sq m of commercial space. Mayors in all 13 combined authorities outside London – Sadiq Khan already has similar powers – including Manchester, Liverpool, South and West Yorkshire, the West of England, and the East and West Midlands, will be able to take control of applications and tell councils whether they should accept or refuse them. Mr Burnham hopes the plans, backed by ten of the 14 devolved mayors, will help deliver the biggest council housebuilding programme since the post-war period. Mr Burnham hopes the new rules will be in place by the end of this year under the English Devolution Act. Housing minister Matthew Pennycook said: “We’re determined to give elected mayors the tools they need to set the strategic direction of development in their areas and to speed up delivery. “Planning powers are a critical part of the toolkit mayors need to effectively deliver new homes and regeneration so we’re rolling out new powers that enable them to call in strategic applications, make development orders and introduce community infrastructure levies. “Local leaders know best how to realise the full economic potential of their areas and this government is backing them to ensure we deliver good growth in every postcode.” Homes England will also come under the mayors’ direction. The authority controls around £27bn of the £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme funding outside London. In a post on Linkedin, Patrick Murray, executive director of policy and external relations at the Northern Housing Consortium (NHC), emphasised the difference between the London model of devolution and the rest of the country. He said: “As our recent NHC briefing on the Devolution and Community Empowerment Act sets out, the MSAs [Mayoral Strategic Authorities] are combined authorities – that is they are made up of the constituent local authorities. “The mayor is directly elected but unlike London there is no directly elected assembly holding them to account. “Their decision-making body is a cabinet system which is made up of the leaders of the constituent local authorities. This means mayors do actually work closely with their local authorities, and have to if they want to get anything done.” He added that a “hallmark of devolution” in the North around housing has been “genuine collaboration”, both with local authorities and the wider sector. “So, if anything, I suspect this power will be rarely used in practice and work more as a backstop if things get too difficult. 👀 “As [the prime minister] has said, he hopes they provide more of a focal point for collaborative discussions about what is needed in a place and how to move that forwards, and I think that’s probably how it will play out in most situations,” he said. Mr Burnham told The Sunday Times that the policy should “prompt a much more joined-up discussion about planning and local authorities”.
