I've been MIA (see the screenshot) for a while and I've got several reasons for it.
First, this summer was certainly full of action. A ten-day vacation each month. Meetings, deer friends, trips to far-away lands, camping, sunburns. sport, swimming. Not to mention a health problem or two. I guess they're necessary for the balance.
Second, some of you already know that I've reduced my usual workload teaching English to focus on a different occupation. Too soon to make conclusions about how it goes yet, but my gut feeling (intuition) tells me that no matter where it leads, I'm not going to return to teaching the way I used to do it. Things get different.
I don't want to abandon this channel though. I know that since I'm not promoting it anywhere, it's not going to be more active as it is now (if I can even say it is). So I guess I will have to do something about it at some point. Sooner or later. Not now =)
I used to make promises to start something new here, to change the routine, to make usual rubrics come back. I'm not making any promises now. Let's see how it goes)
But I need to say, that if I ever want to make one more Smotrelka, or to launch something unexpected, HERE is the only place I'm going to announce it (cause my Instagram or my VK are no longer functional)
Thank you for being here. Sincerely.
Don't leave it here if you want to stay in touch. Who knows what will happen next 😉

The vacation is over and it was great! It almost felt (apart from other things) like a reading retreat 📖
I finished my first book in German. Well, second, but the first I actually enjoyed :))
Der merkwürdige Fall von Dr Jekyll und Mr Hyde (Jekyll and Hide, British classic) was the first book in German I ever read. And that was a torture. It was incredibly difficult. Sometimes I went through the whole page without understanding a single word. Choosing this one as an entry point to reading in German was a mistake.
However my second choice was Good Girl, Bad Blood, the sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder, which I listened in Russian as an audiobook. And this was a success! I read the entire thick detective (young adult) book in German and understood absolutely everything! Yes, it’s light reading, I get that. But, god, this is sooooo satisfying!!! Now I’m going to buy the third part of the series )

Watched “Disclosure day” yesterday ) didn’t like it, but it’s not the point ) the point is that it is as my first movie in German WITHOUT SUBTITLES! ) and it went well, great even ) generally, I didn’t fully catch only one dialogue, the rest was like 99% clear!
I have to say it feels great 💪

Interesting observation: in many books originally written in English they do not translate the titles into German when the book is published here.
So this book is called in English “Good Girl, Bad Blood”, but I’m actually reading it in German. It’s a sequel of “A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder” , where the title also remained in English. Yeah, one may say that in the story AGGGTM became the name of the podcast, but still it doesn’t explain why the names and the titles are still very often in English, in many books, because I checked, it is the case in 50% cases ))

Вообще, у меня была огромная коллекция дисков! Who knew, как говорится, что я буду покупать их по второму разу 😁
