*OIL SPILL IN KOMMETJIE & HOUT BAY* 2025-01-2727 Message from Deputy Mayor Eddie Andrews The City has been alerted to an oil spill along the Kommetjie and Hout Bay coastline. The source of the pollution is being investigated by DFFE Pollution Control. SANCCOB has also taken samples of the contaminant for further testing to determine its potential origin. The impact of this spill is still undetermined as it most likely dispersed very quickly offshore. So far only the affected African penguins appear to have been directly impacted, but it is hard to quantify any other impacts on coastal and marine wildlife.
