I’ve said *repeatedly* & will keep saying that the IRGC is a parallel government answerable to no one in Iran; just like the SS was a parallel government answerable only to the German dictator— they are the same thing. Paramilitary/ political organization that REALLY holds power. Its why a nuclear deal is not possible. The IRGC are zealots & fanatics & are not rationale actors— and they understand very very clearly that any political solution is the end of their political power and control. Because, that power & control over Iran & over neighboring states is based on a nuclear & missile threat, a terrorism threat, & a secret police repression machine that keeps them in control of the money, the industry, the actual levers of power. You can’t negotiate with Iran because the people who may want to save the regime & power by making a deal do not really have power….the IRGC does & they stand to lose everything & they’ll die first. Literally. So oblige them. And keep killing them.
