| 2 | History of DIFA. The path to success!
Let's try to delve into the history of DIFA, see how DIFA developed, show photos of leaders, the successes of the association.
Yes, we will show a video about the history of DIFA again, various photos of teams, and also hold several executive committees and DIFA congresses.
On November 29, 2021, the world's main football organization DIFA celebrated its 10th anniversary.
During this time, its history has experienced its ups and downs, it has expanded and become truly global.
The International Sports Committee of the Deaf (ICSD) has been responsible for the governance of deaf football since 1924.
Thank you ICSD for the entire history of the Deaflympics and the World Deaf Football Championship, where we saw bright and interesting matches.
Since 1924, the ICSD has been coping with the difficult task of hosting one of the largest football sporting events in the world. The 4th World Deaf Football Championship in Malaysia and the U21 World Deaf Futsal Championship in Kazakhstan returned home with fond memories.
The Deaf International Football Association (DIFA) releases a video about the history of deaf football to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ICSD. | 0 |

| 5 | Four World Deaf Football Championships were held from 2008 to 2023.
A few years later, we recall how it was…
From 2008 to 2016, the World Deaf Football Championships were held under the auspices of the ICSD. In 2023, the World Deaf Football Championships were organized by DIFA together with the ICSD.
10-17.08.2008. Patrias, Greece. The first World Deaf Football Championship was attended by 16 men's and 7 women's teams. In fact, everyone who expressed a desire and managed to get to Greece. And Germany became world football champions in the final match with Turkey, and the Russian team became the women's team.
16-27.07.2012. Ankara, Turkey. The second world deaf football championship was held in Ankara, Turkey. The hosts' path to triumph was not easy - in the final, the Turkish team won a strong-willed victory over the Iranian team.
The World Deaf Football Championships were the US women's team.
19.06.-02.07.2016. Capaccio, Italy. The most boring and low-scoring world deaf football championships in history. The Turkish football players retained the roster from four years ago and again became champions, although in Ankara, Turkey, they did not look so bright. In the final, the Turkish team beat the German team. And the US women's team became champions again for the second time...
2020. did not take place due to Covid.
23.09.-07.10.2023. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The 4th World Deaf Football Championships was held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
"Yes, it happened," said Iakov Frenkel on October 7, 2023, falling into the arms of his DIFA colleagues immediately after the main final match of his life. Of course, that's what happened: Ukraine, after the long-awaited historical event, became world champions, and captain Dmytro Ukrainets finally secured his status as the winner of the 21st century.
In the final of the World Deaf Football Championships in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), the Ukrainian team beat the strong Japanese team in a match that can safely be called the best final in the history of major football tournaments. The incredible plot of the game, the intensity of passions, the confrontation of leaders - it was a real battle of equals and, undoubtedly, the strongest teams of the championship.
The entire championship was held to the sound of vuvuzelas, the popular Malaysian horns. It was the heyday of the Ukrainian team, which became world champions for the first time.
The strongest US women’s team won for the third time and became the champion of football for the deaf
The Japanese and Senegalese showed an incredible and competent game, I am sure that in 2027 many teams in the world will show an even more interesting and, of course, intense fight. | 0 |

| 7 | Football is more than just a game.
Football is life. Not just life, it is even more.
Football is everything. Life is not the same without football. It is love, love forever.
Football is unique. You live and breathe it
We all live and breathe football! For many of us, it is the only thing in life. Deaf football has been part of the Deaflympics (World Games of the Deaf) since 1924 and is still going strong. Since the first Games in Paris 100 years ago, all national football teams have competed to be the best in the world. Since the 100th anniversary of the Deaf Games was recently celebrated in Paris, France, October 3-5, 1924, it is all the more surprising that there has not been a single serious publication on football statistics from the Deaflympics (World Games of the Deaf 1924-2022).
The first important step for this book has recently been taken!
13 years ago, when I founded the International Deaf Football Association (DIFA), I was already thinking about collecting relevant information for this book.
And in 2021, on the 10th anniversary of DIFA, I decided to take more initiative and take on this challenging but exciting project. Time was of the essence and I was concerned about not losing touch with the past football legends who have graced the game of deaf football. Although many of the football heroes of the Games are still alive, it was vital for me to obtain their photographs, medals and memorabilia and invite them to share their memories, verify the names of players, scorers and results in order to preserve the history of deaf football. I consider myself lucky to have several friends from different parts of the world, so I could bombard them with answers to my questions. Yes, I apologize to them for my stubborn persistence, but it was the only way to achieve results. There are various publications on deaf sports and football that I have collected from various international events; they have been a fascinating source of information. Yes, the websites of the Belgian Committee of Deaf Sports and the British Association of the Deaf have been most fruitful in their help. Thanks to them.
After several years of hard work and toil, the outlines of this book are finally beginning to take shape. To add the finishing touches to this book, I have invited Viktor Palenny, Editor-in-Chief of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf, a prolific author on the history of deaf sports, for his expertise. Despite his busy schedule, he nevertheless took on the job of bringing this book to the finish line. This allowed me to continue my detective work, interviewing several well-known football researchers for additional material to minimize the missing gaps.
I would like to thank my good friend Philip Gardner from England (the birthplace of football) for his great support in achieving my goals, as well as former ICSD President Donald Ammons (USA) for proofreading the English text; I owe them...
Please remember that this is my first edition, so there may be errors and inaccuracies. I welcome feedback, comments and corrections, as well as additional material that could help improve the publication for the next edition, in which I intend to include both the World and the Continental World Deaf Football Championship Football.
The biggest thing that ICSD has done for DIFA is to accept DIFA as a member of ICSD in 2015.
ICSD and DIFA have recently finally concluded an important memorandum of understanding to establish a relationship and cooperation for the benefit of deaf sports in Paris, France, from 3 to 5 October 2024.
This was made possible thanks to the position of ICSD President Adam Kosa, elected in October 2022. He has a strategic vision for the development of deaf sports in the world. ICSD recognizes the right of DIFA to host championships and other football competitions.
I dedicate this book to all lovers of the game of football. And I hope that this book will become your bible on deaf football!
Viva Football!!!

| 8 | The Organizing Committee’s preparation for the World Deaf Club Football Championships includes the following stages:
1. Selection of Host Country
DIFA selected Turkey as the host country for the tournament, awarding the competition to Istanbul Club due to Turkey’s proven experience in organizing international events. This opportunity allows Istanbul Club to further prepare for hosting the World Deaf Club Football Championships in 2025.
2. Participant Selection Criteria
During a DIFA Executive Committee meeting held via Zoom, the criteria for selecting championship participants were approved.
3. Local Organizing Committee Responsibilities
The local organizing committee (LOC) is responsible for ensuring that Istanbul’s local governments fulfill their obligations as outlined in agreements with DIFA. The Istanbul 2025 Organizing Committee, an autonomous non-profit organization established by the Istanbul Deaf Sports Club and DIFA, oversees the major work required to prepare and deliver the 2025 championships.
4. Organizing Committee Structure and Leadership
The activities of the organizing committee are managed by supervisory and management boards. Members of these boards can hold dual roles within both structures as well as in supporting functions. For example, Bünyemin KARATAŞ, the chairman of the supervisory board, also serves as deputy chairman of the deaf sports club. The supervisory board includes representatives from football authorities and business sectors, and it convenes as needed. The sole executive of Istanbul 2025 is the director of the organizing committee, a role held by Bünyemin KARATAŞ.
5. Primary Responsibilities of Istanbul 2025
The main responsibilities of Istanbul 2025 include organizing and coordinating the 2025 World Deaf Football Club Championships, liaising with regional authorities, DIFA, and the Istanbul Club to execute these plans, managing financial support, overseeing fund utilization, and providing reports to DIFA and the founders of the organizing committee.
6. Commitments to DIFA
The LOC must report to DIFA on the progress of preparations, covering areas such as transportation, security, medical services, and stadiums.
7. Additional Responsibilities
The LOC is also tasked with protecting DIFA’s rights to the championship symbols, supporting events related to sports, culture, and advertising, attracting investors, and coordinating regional organizing committees within Turkey.
Our goal over the next six months is to deliver “a celebration of football, safety, and comfort for participants, fans, and residents of Turkey.” While we anticipate that the World Deaf Club Football Championships infrastructure will eventually become self-sustaining, we expect this outcome to unfold in the coming years.
For club championship participants, the official hotel offers a 50% payment on reservations (including three meals per day) for bookings completed by January 25, 2025.

| 9 | The very first Deaf Club Championship with this name will be held in April 2025 in Kartere, Turkey.
The first championship will feature 16 men's and 5-8 women's clubs representing all 4 continental confederations, although the criteria for selecting contenders for the title of the best club in the world have raised many questions and objections. However, the tournament will prove itself from both a financial and sporting point of view: the favorites are European clubs, or African clubs, or Asian clubs that are worthy of performing...
In 2025, the World Deaf Club Championship was supposed to be hosted by Saudi Arabia, but in August 2025, Saudi Arabia refused to host the tournament due to problems within the countries.
It was decided to move the world championship to another country, it was quickly hosted by Istanbul Sports Club, Türkiye.

The XXIII Deaflympics officially started at the stadium in Samsun, Turkey. The festival at the stadium turned into a fascinating demonstration of deaf sports, youth and beauty.
We will not be mistaken if we say that the entire first half of the day, young Samsun - a giant city with a multi-million population - lived in anticipation of the sports festival among the deaf.
Truly, the Deaflympics are not only deaf athletes. Their ideals are near and dear to millions of people all over the planet. The grand opening of the XXIII Summer Games became another vivid confirmation of this.
Let's look around in the remaining minutes before the start of the festival, once again look into the faces of the deaf athletes - how many sincere feelings, genuine trepidation, how transparent the light of expectation on these faces is!.. The Turks did not spare their strength and talents, preparing for the Deaflympics. But there is also a clear feedback: now each of the Turks will be generously gifted with the light of the Deaflympic Flame, which is about to soar into the Turkish sky, giving unforgettable days of the Deaflympic Games competitions. Television showed dozens of people on the planet involved in the Deaflympic Games.

Great moments of the Deaflympic Games. Women's football. Russia - 2017.
The victory of the women's football team at the 2017 Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey. The victory of the Russian national football team at the 2017 Deaflympics still remains a big surprise for many. The women's team was certainly not a clear favorite against the superpowers of Poland, Brazil or Turkey, but they managed to spring a surprise. In 2017, the team was brought to Samsun by Mikhail Shlenkov and Yakov Frenkel - these are the names usually associated with this triumph. | 0 |
